Wedding Rings

Muppet, 1 November, 2013 at 15:39 Posted on Planning 0 6

Where can I get just plain white gold bands that won't cost the earth? I know last resort is always Argos, I don't really want to spend more than 50 quid each on a ring... I can't justify spending much more than that on a bit of jewellery!

As something you will wear everyday I dont think that's an area really to scrimp on unless you want to be buying new ones to replace the broken/scratched/bent/tarnished cheap ones - the ring is meant to be the lasting memory so if you can spend more than £50 on a dress or a meal you should be able to justify it for something that symbolizes your commitment everyday

My parents got married in 1973 and spent the equivalent of £45 on each ring. My mum's is still going strong and my dad's wore out in 1996 so some cheapies do last! They celebrated their 40th anniversary in September ?

Ohhh I won't be spending more than £50 on my dress! Another thing that I just can't justify spending a huge amount of money on, it will be from Dorothy Perkins or the like, and we're not having a meal with our wedding. It's just us 2 no one else.

I was of the understanding that 14ct is 14ct ? is that not the case? I just want a plain band, no jewels etc.

Are you dead set on white gold?

If you have an independent jeweller near you (one that makes their own stuff on site would be good), pop in and see what they suggest within your budget. They'll be able to show you different metals, sizes, finishes.

Well my engagement ring (if I get one!) Will be white gold so I would want it to match that or silver I guess.

I ffeel like an independent would be expensive!

That sort of price will probably be quite thin 9ct white gold, maybe palladium at a push - as others have said, independent local jewellers can often make things at competitive prices.

You could also look at silver if you wanted something chunkier
