Wedding shoes - is everyone buying new ones?

alabastamasta, 23 September, 2013 at 23:32 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hiya - so I'm thinking that I'm just going to wear a pair of shoes I already own for the wedding - is everyone buying new? I have very narrow feet, so finding comfy shoes is always a bit of a battle and frankly, I can't be a£$ed with it!

I want to wear big (like 5 inch) heels on the day - I have a pair of black patent Kurt Geiger wedges that I can wear for around 12 hours before my feet hurt so I was thinking of just wearing them - especially as we're having an Alice in Wonderland wedding, which means I can wear black and white stripy socks too Smiley laugh

Do it! I spent hours looking for a certain type of shoe. I could only find them in China and when they arrived they were stunning but too small. It would have cost too much to send them back so I just sold them on eBay and lost money. I ended up with a pair of wide fit gold sandals with kitten heels & it was the best thing I ever did. They were so comfy & only one person asked to see my shoes. Comfort is key!

Awwwww!!! Alice in Wonderland? Black and White Stripey socks?!? Toooooo cute!!! Go for it! Smiley laugh

im buying new shoes, but ones that I can wear after the wedding (Im not a fan of traditional wedding shoes). I've budgeted £100 to buy a pair of heels for ceremony/pictures and then a pair of flats for later (I really can't tolerate heels, sadly!) and I just got a pair of the cutest blue Wellies with a bow on incase it's chucking it down Smiley laugh

I've been naughty and bought two pairs! The first pair I got for £22.50 in the sale before I even had my dress. I just saw them and thought they would be perfect as they weren't too high for me standing next to my dad (he's just little) or too low for next to my H2B. However, when I got my dress the seamstress has said that it would be cheaper for me to buy a higher pair of heels than for her to alter the length of my dress as it has tonnes of layers of tulle so I ordered another pair which were reduced from £205 to £45 but even if I decide against wearing them they are occasion shoes so can be used for something else. I am a shoeaholic and if I had something which would have gone with my dress I would have happily worn them.

I love the idea of your black and white stripy socks!

    Hiya,

I don't think you need to buy new ones - I found some on ebay for £20 with massive wedges cos I can't walk in heels and my h2b is tall! I would have worn my black ones if I could have got away with it!

I will be wearing stripper shoes ?

I wanted something classy but they are the only ones that jumped out at me, they're not that stripper-y though (not like huge platforms or anything) there just for sale on stripper sites, they are just silver, strappy, sparkly, diamante sandals but they fasten all the way up to just below the knee

my bridesmaids will have shoes with a similar design but not diamante, there's is just ribbon that ties up there legs (ballet style)

We shot an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding last year where the bride wore a pair of shoes she already owned- which were also a beautiful pair of wedges. They were gorgeous and she was comfortable in them all day! They worked really well with her outfit too.

If you already have something suitable, there's no sense in going out and buying another pair just for the sake of it (unless you wanted to of course) so i'd stick with what you have.

I am buying new but not paying loads! Prob from debehmas and not paying more than £40 but I do not usually wear heels i think i own 2 pairs and would not go with my dress! I would probably use my own if i had the right pair!

I'll be buying new but will be spending little as I can and if I had a pair suitable in the house i'd definitely just wear them!
I'll be buying some shoes before then for a couple of nights out so if they're comfy enough i'll just wear them if they match ok, i'd just wear the ones you have tbh!
Don't see the use in spending more for one day when you have suitable ones already! Smiley smile

I love the black and white socks idea!

I'll have new shoes but I can completely see why you and others wouldn't. There's nothing worse than new shoes rubbing either!

I bought mine but only because I didn't have anything suitable already. Mine were £55 from Debenhams and are dark blue, so I know I will wear them again after the wedding. I think if you have shoes you love and you know you'll be comfortable in them, wear them.

My MIL gave me mine. She bought them for my SIL for her wedding but she didn't wear them because her OH was 15" taller than her and they are kitten heels. Great wedding freebie for me! Nobody was ever going to see them anyway. With what you're proposing, that seems like a shame. Get them out at least once for the pics!

I bought new ones, but only because I had nothing that would go with my dress and they were only £16 in the sale x
