Wedding Shoes - where to start?

hkj, 3 January, 2010 at 12:37 Posted on Planning 0 14

I know some people on here are planning fabulous shoes for their wedding and i am very jealous but i need to start looking for shoes that i am going to be able to wear all day!

I wear chunky heels or heeled boots to work but know that thinner heels can result in hurty feet on a night out and my wedding day is going to be longer than an average night out :-)

Is both comfort and gorgeous shoes possible?

Suggestions and recommendations of where to start looking much appreciated!

Faith have a lovely new range in atm, chunky heels and flats, although some of the heels are very high. and not ridiculously expensive either x

I'm on a bit of a shoe hunt at the moment!!! Problem i've got is that i'm 5'3 and H2B is 6'3 so in pics with me in flats/small heels we look stupidly different in height.

Last thing i want is feet that hurt by end of night though, although i'm happy in heels (being short you get used to them!) i don't want to risk my feet hurting.

Then i thought maybe i'd have big heels for photos and flats in eve but my dress will be too long in eve and as i have quite a big skirt i don't want to be falling over it all night!!!

SO i've settled on finding some mid-height ones. So far i've found Next quite good if you don't want to spend loads (which i don't - my dress way way over budget so accessories need to be bargins!!!). Also found some really lovely ones on the rainbow club website and they have a good range of prices too which is good. Dune had some lovely ones but all had big heels so not great for me.

    Good luck searching!!

We are about the same heights as you Autumn Rose and i think mid-height is the way to go, the ones on the Faith website look lovely but the spindly heels scare me to death - imagine me on the dance floor after a glass or bubbly or two, definitely a you've been framed moment waiting to happen!

I had Rainbow shoes as a bridesmaid once so will definitely have a look at their website.

Sarah Louise Bridal in Glasgow, where I'm also getting my dress. I think they're called Nicole or something like that. I paraded around for over an hour in them when I paid my deposit and they were comfy around the toes, heels and the balls of my feet. I have wide feet, so normally shoes kill my toes afer about 5 mins but these were sooooooooo comfy....

Nearly £80 though which is more than what I wanted to pay!!

My bridesmaids are in a lovely deep green colour so matching shoes will be impossible to get elsewhere so dyed shoes could be the way forward....

I spend all my time in either ugg boots or trainers so any high heels would cripple me, although i have tried some high heels on and i thought they looked great but no good for me. i'm thinking of some medium heels for the day and then get some pretty slip on flats for when i'm dancing. shops usually start getting new wedding ranges in after they have cleared some of the sale stuff.

You could always buy fab shoes for the ceremony and then have some lovely flats to change into once the pain becomes unbearable???? I've got 2.5" heels, so manageble but I still plan to put some ballet pumps in for the reception if it all gets too much for me....lol
