Wedding (Table) Themes - what's yours?

tory82, 7 July, 2008 at 16:18 Posted on Planning 0 23

Hello there,

Just reading a couple of threads and am wondering what people's wedding themes are and what kind of favours people are having.....

...so what's yours???

H2B & i have some ideas rattling around but nothing concrete yet! :-)

HTB is a HUGE Elvis fan, so we are having our tables named after his films, i.e. Blue Hawaii. Viva Las Vegas etc. I am walking into 'Can't help falling in love with you'.

Our families will be expecting a touch of Elvis somewhere.

I think we're going to name each table after one of my favourite writers as I'm a bit of a literature nut and that's widely known in my family so it will be quite personal...Bronte, Austen, Dickinson, Woolf, Shakespeare etc. It's a summer wedding so colour scheme is being debated at the moment, few in mind are either ivory and champagne with touches of silver, ivory and peach/apricot with splashes of gold, or ivory and pastels - so lilacs, pinks, blues, etc. I think colours will probably depend on what bridesmaid dresses I find, as they're quite a prominent feature of the day alongside the flowers and table decs.

We are having Vegas casino names, as my H2B used to live in Vegas & I didn't want a theme wedding but he liked the idea of having Vegas somewhere in our day. For our favours we are having used playing cards from the table name you are sat on for the men & the ladies have a pair of dice with our names on saying Steve & Karens Casino, also poker chip chocolates. Have had to have all the favours shipped from Vegas though, so not as easy as I had planned but I have kept him very happy!

No theme as such, but our colours are ivory, teal with either a hint of silver or a hint of chocolate brown.

Still debating over the favours, but one idea we had was to have two chocolates in a box with our initials on them but in contrasting chocolates, so one white with a dark initial and vice versa.

Another idea was to give lottery tickets, but I dread the thought of going into the local shop and asking for 100-odd lucky dips all on separate tickets! It would be good in the evening though when the DJ calls out the numbers for everyone to check.

Our wedding colours are red and ivory - which works well as we later decided to marry on 23rd April without being aware that it is St, george;s Day!!

Red is my fav colour, but it was H2B that suggested it and as his fav footy team (liverpool fc) play in these colours our tables will be named after his fav players of all time!! My family are all Chelsea or Arsenal fans so i'm sure it will be a talking point if nothing else ?

We are going to have areas of Bristol (Both born and bred!) that mean something to us. Where we met, our first house etc and getting old black and white photos of the area for the table.

Our colours are tuquoise and pale gold, so we are having a seaside/holiday theme. Table names are things like....surf, starfish, seashell etc.

Jayne at Puddycards is making table plan, menus and table names cards, and guest book all in a seaside theme -in 'our colpurs' but embellished with pale gold seashells and starfish.

we LOVE our holidays ! Smiley smile

We have been considering lottery tickets as an idea doing what you said - reading out the results by the DJ - would have to put a clause in though - if you win the big one you have to pay for the rest of the drinks - lol - only kidding!

Love all everyones themes though - some are REALLY imaginiative.

We were thinking of doing the theme based on where we got engaged (Disney) but the stuff we have seen for it we don't like!!!

Well our colour theme is black and white, (with lots of diamonds!) Having a kinda of James bond style theme.....

My passion is horses, and H2B is mad about motorbikes.. so we thought for the tables we could do a Horse Power theme

I think we will be having 8 tables plus the top table, so we will have 4 tables named after horse breeds ie Thoroughbred, Hanovarian..... and 4 tables after motorbikes ie Ducati, Aprilla....

The the top table we are going to call the household cavalry!

Not to sure yet as to how i am going to make/display these, i'll worry about that another day!

Ours is a autumn wedding so the colour theme is ivory with Chocolate Brown and Burnt Orange, along with lots of crystals!

We're mad on animals and are getting wed on the outskirts of a big safari park, so our tables are named after some of the animals there: We're having Lions, Monkeys, Zebras, Elephants, Penguins and Parrotts. We've managed to get a porcelain models of each of the animals so they're going to sit on the tables, along with table centre pieces so guests know which table they are on! And as top table, we're the lions!
