Wedding Venue headache

budget_bride, 22 February, 2011 at 20:42 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me. I'm stuggling to find a venue within my budget of £4000, that may sound like alot but when we have 80 guests for the sit down meal and 120 for the wedding reception the costs soon mount up. I'm looking for a venue in the sotckport/manchester area and was wondering if anyone out there can think of a venue that we haven't yet thought of. Any suggestions are welcome. I know that we have a little of time to play round with as the wedding is not till 2013, but as its in August I know that we need to settle on a venue sooner rather than later!

Thanks guys!

There are lots of ways to cut back on your food budget, and still have a memorable day. A new idea that brides are buzzing about is the wedding 'cheese' cake. Literally, it is three slabs of cheese turned into a wedding cake for that special 'cutting of the cake' photograph and ceremony. Why not combine the two instead of having a separate cheese and cake course? Or serve this with crackers, chutney and pate for your evening guests?

Hi, are you looking for a picturesque location or do you just need a venue??

Have you tried one of the hotels that do all inclusive packages??

we are getting married at a Holiday Inn, not everyone's choice but as we live north of Birmingham and we are getting married in Colchester ,Essex we needed an all in venue as my family don't know the area and they would of found it difficult if we have separate service/meal/reception venue's, , , ,

I don't live in the area but have you looked at any golf clubs? When we started looking, we didn't want to spend as much as we actually have on a venue and the golf clubs were really cheap compared to most places! There were also a lot of venues doing all inclusive but they tended only to be for weddings between October-April.

    I'm sure you'll find somewhere x

In fact when I was looking, I recall the Ramada Jarvis doing a package all inclusive for £3k- may be worth checking to see if the Manchester one offers it?

    Hi

Have you tried any of the Britannia Hotels? I know there are several around Manchester and they were doing really good offers at the one down south near me!

    xx

    Hi there,

Have you tried Hollin House near Macclesfield? It's got amazing views and was really reasonable. Or the Joshua Bradley & The Bluebell? These prices were great too and they were willing to negotiate quite a lot on top of that. Not sure about numbers though as we were only looking for 70-90 guests.

    Good luck!

Did you ant the venue to get married in as well or just for the reception.

If it's just for the reception this room is nice and you could arrange your own caterers.

Meant to add - the Marriott Worsley Park do Evening Wedding Packages for 125 for later in the day weddings. The room is set for about 4pm. If you got married a little later you would only have to provide the one meal and people wouldn't expect a buffet if they finish eating at about 7. I think it's about £3000

    Hi,

Hope you manage to sort a venue out soon and that the rest of the planning is less stressful :-)

I don't know your area at all, but we have the same numbers of people as you, and have a 4* hotel on the south coast, the package was £6700 roughly, so being up north away from the coast and having a cheaper venue I think you'll find something near to your budget. We went for a sunday, to make it cheaper, fridays were cheaper too.

Also, our venue was a kind of 'off peak venue', cheaper at certain times of year, so april was cheaper. I think you'll find august is one of the most expensive months so you might want to compromise there too. Good luck!

I suggest you invite less people

£4000 / 80 = £50 all in, and that's forgetting the evening. If you went to a resturant £50 buys you a decent meal, it doesnt buy you a great all day experience
