Wedding Venues in Surrey

Firefly2105, 24 May, 2012 at 17:35 Posted on Planning 0 16

My fiance and I are both originally from Surrey (Hanworth and Staines, respectively), although we now live in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. This means visiting venues is difficult, and we are only able to a few times a year. We are looking to get married in March 2015, but have started looking at venues now for that reason.

Does anyone know of any budget/reasonable wedding venues? We are looking primarily for the wedding ceremony venue, as we want to have the reception the next day (which will be a Saturday; the ceremony on a Friday), although if the venue we choose is reasonable enough, we will have the reception there as well. This means that we are looking for a venue for the ceremony, wedding breakfast, and overnight stay - as well as other facilities if the venues have any.

The best places for us will be Spelthorne, Runnymede, Elmbridge, Woking, Guildford and Surrey Heath, as well as Windsor/Virginia Water, Kingston and Richmond. We also like Twickenham and Hampton, although we'd prefer less travelling.

Any ideas would be welcome, although I'd like to avoid pubs. Hotels are preferable as we'd likely have some people wanting to stay, and, of course, would like a room for ourselves.

What was the venue? I'm sure if it's worth it, I can find a nearby hotel for the stay.

I was going to recommend Nonsuch mansion in Cheam. Best venue I've covered in Surrey.

Benita, Jade and Lucy there are awesome.

Were having ours at Glenmore House in Surbiton, VERY reasonable prices - £150 for the ceremony room and no hire charge for the reception you just pay for the food and drink. It isnt a hotel so no overnight stay unfortunately but theres Hotel Bosco 2 minutes away and the Antoinette about 10 minutes away. This is the outside of it

Lensbury in Teddington? It's a hotel so it'll have rooms and it has a civil ceremony licence: https://www.lensbury.com/weddings/

Oatlands Park Hotel in Weybridge - nice hotel, with several room options for ceremony/reception. Not sure about the price though.

Hi, this is my patch, you might want to widen your search your Hampshire & Berkshire too if Guildford and woking are in reach as it's close to the border of the county, it's a weird shape so all three counties are very close together and you may miss out on a few good venues by only looking at the Surrey part.

I've written some wedding venue reviews on my website which may help, there is a lot of Hampshire ones but some Surrey too around guildford. I'm not connected with any of these venues so it's a completely impartial review of each. Hope it helps. The link is:

Thank you for all suggestions so far; I've contacted Glenmore and had a very helpful reply, and am also looing at Harrison's in Shepperton, and Oakley Court and Beaumont Estate in Windsor. A few of the other suggestions have been for very expensive venues - I remind anyone posting on this thread that we are on a tight budget, so mansions and golf clubs, unless very cheap, are pretty much out of the question! Venues with free hire provided a minimum amount of guests etc would be very welcome - and the more information provided by the venues, the better, as chasing them up for pricing is proving to be quite time consuming.

I look forward to more suggestions, and thank you for the ones sent already!

Hi, i'm also a Glenmore house bride to be. I couldn't recommend them enough, they've always been very helpful and Freya is lovely to deal with. We've got our menu tasting on Tuesday, so I can let you know how that goes? ?

    Hi Firefly2015,

Welcome to hitched and congratulations on your engagement.

Have you signed up to our weekly special offers newsletter? We frequently have special offers on venues in Surrey and across the UK that you may be interested in. The newsletter is sent every Friday afternoon, and you can also look out for it on our facebook page (hitched.co.uk).

You should also check our venues section under Surrey (www.hitched.co.uk/wedding-venues/surrey.htm) frequently because the venues will individually update their details and offers as well as showing images and further details of their facilities. You can also find a special offers section in the members area of the site. If you are logged in, click on the word members and down the left hand side you should see a section called Special Offers, featured above competitions.

Best of luck with your planning and we look forward to hearing more during the progression of your wedding plans.

A friend of mine got married at Beaumont House in march and it was lovely.

I don't know what your budget is but I know she had reception drinks, canapés and wedding breakfast for 80 people and then evening disco and buffet for a further 50 or so and it came to about £8.5k

That was on a Friday though so if you have a mid week wedding, you may save even more.
