Wedding Videos...

Omg! How weird!

Your only an hour down the road from me (weston) so if you find any good ones and wouldnt mind sharing i would appreaciate it x

Yeah not too far away...we're getting married in cardiff though so have mainly got samples from people in that area (lots probably cover weston tho so will let you know once my ears stop bleeding haha)

can't wait til the pier reopens love the seaside!

Yeh i cant wait for the pier either! The sea side is ok, they are doing alot of work to it at the moment and the road works are just chaos! and they are soooo slow!! BUT hopefully it will be nice when its all done.

Shame the rest of the town is full of asbo chav's!

Well yes, can't escape the chavs... haha....my oh used to play football down there so used to go quite a lot but havent been down really in a couple of years. the traffic is always a nightmare whenever i've been probably cos theres only one way in and out!

o the videographer im having i went to his house to see his work. He "disagrees" with sample dvds and says anybody could throw together one and it would look amazing, yet they might not be that good. He put on actual dvds of weddings he had done. So use you samples as a guide but go and look more into their work as well before booking anyone! The ones i saw all had the older music on them. Like "little country churchyard" and all that. But i love all that kinda music! He said we could give him a cd if we want of music we would like as background music.

Thanks deb....only 1 of them was a thrown together type job which i discounted immediately - the dvd was actually just made up of stills - i dont see the point in a supposed videographer even sending that out! - like you say anyone can put together a dvd of still pics whereas i want to see a film of how a wedding would look. most of them have been full dvds of couples actual weddings and some are definitely better than others!!

Well the man doing mine's daughter was at school with me. so we do know him!!! thats why i didnt really shop around!

As a professional videographer, we spend a great deal of time reviewing and renewing our sample footage. We ensure that our sample dvd truly reflects our work and is certainly not thrown together. Nothing goes out of our house until we're happy with it and we are a worst critics. Everything has to be as perfect as it can be and that goes for all wedding dvds we do. We're proud of our samples which I'm happy to say are more than just a couple of minutes long each with a mini storybook at the end which is a wedding dvd reduced from 1 hour 30 mins to 20 mins to give the viewer the idea and style of our work and editing skills. We have no problem in showing a couple a full wedding dvd either as consent has already been given from the couple whose wedding it is. I'm horrified to hear shocking stories about some sample footage people have received being of such poor quality or thrown together etc - but like with everything there are good ones and there are bad ones, it pays to look around.

We want people to book us not only for the quality of our work which is demonstrated well on our sample dvd but also our likeability factor which is also important. We always try to meet people just so that they can make sure they like us and are right for the job. Price does of course come into it but buy cheap, you won't get the quality and this may then lead to disappointment.

Do you mean greatest day was over the showreel bit or the entire DVD of the day?

do videographers usually have background music over the whole DVD or just the short showreel?

Na aliaisp it wasn't played over the entire day - there was a variety of music on them to be fair, but greatest day was played at the beginning of most of them on the "introduction" bit when there were cutaway shots of the venue, pics of the church, guests arriving, stills of the wedding etc. basically on bits when there would be no dialogue - not over speeches or ceremony anything like that...

on some others it was played for the first dance, on others it was played as the bride was getting ready, others it was played when the couple had fireworks. it was just on all of them full stop!!!!! it must be the most popular weddingy song at the mo!

most video people have sent me a complete dvd of someone else's wedding, have only really had that one "showreel" (which didn't really show anything!!!)
