wedding website

Hi

I want to do a wedding website to keep the invites simple and use the site to put all info on like directions, local B&Bs etc. Can anyone recommend a free/easy site?

Thanks

We used gettingmarried.co.uk, it all depends what you want from it, but once you get the hang of how they work they are pretty easy.

We used gettingmarried.co.uk. Our invites are out at the moment and I'm finding that it's been really useful and easy to use the RSVP section, you can set it so that people choose their menu's when they RSVP which is really helpful, we've also put our gift list details on there and links to accomodation, transport etc. You can customise the whole site pretty much as well so I managed to get it all exactly as I wanted it. It was easy to set up, you just have to be prepared to spend a bit of time putting all the information on there and spending a while tweaking it to get it how you want it.

We've used gettingmarried- really easy to use and we have completely customised the colours etc. Haven't sent invites yet so not sure what response it will get from our guests yet x

Thanks everyone I decided to go with getting married and seems pretty simple so far!

I will be keeping our invites simple and just using the website for all additional info...we don't have lots of older relatives tho and those we do have will probably go with others anyway so should work ok for us!

I'm hoping it relieves stress and questions from guests that have lost invites/inserts, can't think to use google etc etc!

I used getting married, and I've recently found out that you can track who's viewed it. People are even asking me when I'm updating the blog on it. I've had so much fun with it. I know people are reading it but only one or two have interacted with it.

Strangely as we started the countdown with 10 days to go it's been mega bust.

We kept the invitations simple with information on location and times for the ceremony, all additional information is on the website. We've found that quite a few of the older end of the guest list have navigated the website with no problems, those who haven't been able to work it out or aren't connected to the internet have spoken to their sons/daughters/grandkids who've helped them out. I also put my mobile no on the invite for people to text RSVP's to if they couldn't RSVP online and I've had about 4 through that.

We have 2 weeks to go until our RSVP deadline and have had just over a quarter respond through the website, I'm not sure how this compares with the normal way of requesting RSVP's.

We are putting the bear minimum on the invites, and directing everyone to the website. There is only my nan who might struggle (she lives in Devon) but my uncle lives down there too so he will be able to help.

If people get really stuck, they know how to get hold of us and we can sort it out that way.

We've directed everyone to the website, our invites are very basic. For the older guests we are putting in a little note to say 'we are aware not everyone uses the internet so if you want any details about our day please feel free to call us house number. Please RSVP to address'

Hi there, I have just used Wedding Hand for our personal wedding website, it is fantastic! I set mine up in 10 minutes. You can choose your own style of website and upload photos on to it. It lists all the nearest hotels to the venue, you can even put your gift list on for guests to choose gifts from and even add your menu choices on as well. It is password protected as well so only invited guests can see it!?

    Another vote for Gettingmarried.co.uk

We used it to manage all the RSVP's, menu choices and make sure everyone had directions and knew what the local hotel choices were (if they didn't fancy paying for the venue one).

Being able to manage menu choices was a godsend. People chose what they wanted from drop down lists and then I summed up each menu option, printed off the spreadsheet and handed it to the coordinator.

    Hi Smiley smile

we were thinking of creating a website also but our venue does offer quite a bit of accommodation. But we have sort of decided ourselves which rooms/house/flats/shepherds huts we would like people to stay in if they do wish to stay on site. We've done this purely so that we can have our immediate family with us in the main house where we can all have breakfast together the next day but also so that people are comfortable with who they are staying with. So.... My question is, how would you put that on the website? The venue can't actually take all those we wish to stay so nearby accommodation will be suggested. Would it be best to contact those we would like to stay on site separately? And just show info for nearby accommodation to those not able to stay on site? We don't want people to feel "second best" but also don't want close family being away from us the next morning.

We've said something along these lines...
we have 22 rooms reserved for us at the venue with priority being given to the bridal party. Remaining rooms will be allocated on a first come first basis. If you would like a room please get in touch

    Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone upgraded on gettingmarried.co.uk or if the standard free one was fine?

    Thanks :-)

    We've just gone with standard.

You can change the colour /style text on the standard designs to make it more your style and think that's the only diff? I may be wrong?!

To us the website was a way of keeping the invites simple (and cheaper!) so to pay to upgrade didn't make sense x
