Wedding websites

Kentish Gal, 6 October, 2012 at 09:03 Posted on Planning 0 6

Are these genuinely a help or is it an additional burden on those doing the organising?

Ours is fairly small, with a few travelling in.

That said, my mum and sister would probably be willing to do various computer-based things, whereas I'm tight on time most weeks...

Would welcome any thoughts!

I've done one but it didn't take me long at all. I like having all the information in one place and I hope my guests will too, if I'm a guest at a wedding it's nice to know what time you're going to be fed etc. I'm also using it for RSVPs although I had a slight wobble about that last night.

I think they're good to have, just to have a place for people who misplace the invitation or info card (if you provided one with invites) to check to make sure they have the right date/time/wedding gift list/etc. Also, it can be a nice way of introducing each side to one another by adding little blurbs.

Also, for those coming from out of town or overseas (for us it's over 50% of the guest list!), it's a great place to put hotel information and other things they might want to do in the area.

www.gettingmarried.co.uk are really easy to use. I found that they had a bit too much info on them, but you can pause pages so you pick and choose what you want to show the public. And it was so easy and fast to set up. Here's mine: https://anthonyandemily.gettingmarried.co.uk/

Thank you so much for sharing that! It's great, you must be very excited. It's really helped me order my thoughts.

We have a really small guests list really, essentially it's 18 couples and their children, including parents. Only two in the wedding party as such, my son who's giving me away, and the best man. Our families wouldn't want photos etc. so I was starting to think it might not be for us...

However, we do want the info about the format of the day out there. And it would be good for them to see a photo of the celebrant and know a bit more about what our humanist ceremony is all about. Plus ours is informal and we have things we want to borrow for the day like picnic furniture, outdoor games equipment etc. And also I'm after asking friends and family to save up interesting looking glass jars to use as table decs etc, and I want my hands on their Christmas fairy lights!! An excellent way to engage with interested parties but not bombard those who aren't really bothered.

    Thank you!

We have one similar to venarts through gettingmarried.co.uk Easy to set up and use.

For example I don't want all of the details of the wedding on there yet so have hidden the pages until I decide.

I am going to add a bit on asking for these sorts of things now as well as it will work quite well I reckon!

I did one on gettingmarried.co.uk but I don't think anyone even bothered looking at it!

We have one. It was partly as aproject so that I could learn how to create a website, but we sent the link out to everybody as a kind of 'Save the Date' with all the info about hotels and things becuase most of our guests are travelling.

I really like having all the information in one place. And we're also planning on using it for RSVPs.
