Wedding weekend outfit help

Cache13, 15 February, 2015 at 21:57 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone, I could do with your guidance in helping me choose an outfit for the day after our wedding.

My future inlaws are hosting an open garden party (they have a lovely big garden) with caterers in, and we will serve the rest of the wedding cake etc, the day after the wedding. Approx 45 people are staying at the venue so will likely pop by for a bit, but both parents are also inviting family friends along as we couldn't afford to have them all at the wedding.

i have a lot of family travelling or flying in for the wedding so it's a great opportunity for us all to spend one more day together before my h2b and I leave for the airport around 5-6pm.

But what on earth do I wear?! we are still "the bride and groom" as such - especially to those who didn't make the wedding.

Im in an organza fishtail for my wedding day.

Any ideas/links/thoughts are much appreciated Smiley smile

Personally I would either wear your wedding dress again or a highstreet wedding dress. Make the most of having 2 days of being a bride!

I'd wear the dress again- I am actually when we have our after wedding party ten days later. The boys are all wearing their suits and the BMs their dresses too. x

That's pretty much exactly what we did but at my parents! I wore a blue and white smart maxi type dress, dressy enough to still feel good but a lot more relaxed than a wedding dress. I think you'd look like a nutter if you wore your dress again to be honest! People won't be expecting you to go crazy smart I'm sure, and you don't want people to feel underdressed either. Obviously if your in laws are the type to go for that sort of day at the races style garden do then you may need to go a bit smarter, my family are a pretty relaxed bunch. Hth!

This might sound gross, but with an August wedding (hopefully ceremony outside) and a long day, won't my dress be a bit sweaty? I don't know if I would feel fresh wearing it again the next day- but I do feel sad wearing my dress for just one day!

A maxi dress sounds good, or even a high street wedding dress that's not formal looking - thanks for these ideas! Let me know if you spot any deals!

What about a bridesmaid style dress? Keep an eye out for Debenhams/bhs/monsoon etc deals like 20% off weekends perhaps?

I think that if your wore your wedding dress it would be too formal. If it is more of a garden party then I would go for either a white summer dress or white maxi dress.

I wouldn't wear a wedding dress. Wearing yours again wouldn't be very comfortable and wearing a different wedding dress would be a little odd imo. I'd go for a nice summer maxi or tea length dress.

My parents are planning something similar for the day after the wedding I am probably going to get a nice white/ivory/blush summer dress, maybe wear some of my jewellry again and nice sandles. OH is going to have smart chinos and a shirt but nothing overly formal.

I am thinking of it as a more casual occassion so definately would not go in my wedding dress - If anyone wants to see it, it will be in the boot of the car!
