**Wedding Weight Loss**

2013_Bride_, 29 January, 2013 at 11:45 Posted on Planning 0 48

Hi All!

Here is the official wedding weight loss post Smiley smile

I'm doing things a bit oddly, but its helping me keep the pressure off at the moment.

My first goal is to get back to the weight I've always been (seemed to have piled on a stone last year) - thats 16.5lb away.

I really hope I can do this by the end of April, then I'll have May, June & July to try and do some more damage limitation just for the 'big day'.

I'm following Nutracheck (Calorie Counting) at the moment.

Its hard, I lose motivation easily and because my 'sample' dress was a size too small I keep thinking thats why I looked lumpy bumpy in it, and when my actual dress arrives it will be perfect even at this weight (I hope this is what will happen but I doubt it, its quite tight fitting at the top / stomach area!).

    Oh, hey!

    Thanks for starting this thread.

I TOTALLY NEED to join this. I am getting hitched in September and I want to lose at least 3 stone before then.

I've been meaning to shed it for some time, but the wedding is just the kick up the bum I need to focus me! Plus, smaller size dresses are cheaper (!). To be absolutely honest, it's not even the wedding but the honeymoon that's putting the fear of God into me...

I am tall and I have always been 'cursed' by people telling me that I carry my weight well, and that I don't look the size I am (think Miranda Hart-esque proportions). I know they mean well, but all these kind words mean I have been resting on my laurels. I need someone to shout at me and call me a big fat cow to motivate me, hence I have employed the services of a personal trainer. I want to be tall and willowy, not tall and clumpy!

I'm using MyFitnessPal to track calories. I've lost just over a stone so far, but the motivation is wearing thin as the weight loss slows down!

Skeptical! I know what you mean. I've often thought I wish someone just say my you've put on some weight as it might kick me up the bum! But at the same time I'm sick of everyone telling me I should be sticking to my diet because of the wedding. I want to lose weight for life, not just for my wedding! When I shift this 16lb I never want to find it again!

1 stone is great, how long has that taken you? Well done! I've been thinking of getting a PT, maybe May for 3 months before. I have had one before and they were good. I think I know what I need to do but its always nice having someone there to push you isn't it! Smiley smile

My wife is always looking to lose/keep her weight down. I love her for who she is and not her dress size. Whilst I appreciate you all want to look your best and be healthy, which is of course a good thing, please don't get stressed out by it as I'm sure, like me, you OH loves you for being you.

I've also gained just over a stone in the last year. My dress is a size 10 and I'm now a size 12, was a 10 when I ordered it so that is my goal!

Has anyone used my fitness pal?

Bless you for your kind words, but this is part of the problem! ?

The wedding (more importantly the honeymoon) is just a goal date for me. It could be a birthday, or some other special occasion, but the wedding is convenient. I am significantly overweight, despite people telling me I look fine (including OH). I get quite annoyed at people who say 'Can't you be happy as you are?'.....NO! I WANT TO BE THIN! ?

See? Us women are strange, complex creatures....!

I didn't get on with it as found the database quite out of date (and American).

If you don't mind paying I'd reccommend Nutracheck ,you can do a 5 day trial but you will see there database has *everything* on there and its UK based.

You can sign up for 6 months for about £35.00.

I just find it easier than MFP, and I trust it where as I didn't with MFP!

That's the key thing; losing it for life. I am determined that I don't want to be fat at forty (I'm 34 now) plus I want to think about having a kid at some point, which I obviously want to be at the peak of health for- God knows I get enough stick about being an 'old' mum even now- let alone in 3 or 4 years when I've got the wedding out of the way and completed my studies!

I did actually lose 1 1/2 stone, but put 10lbs back on over Xmas ?

It took about 2 months or thereabouts? I found that running really helped. I did the Great South Run in October and haven't really put in any serious miles since. I did 5k on Saturday just to get back into it, which I really enjoyed so hopefully that's motivated me to keep it up again now. I've also joined the gym at work and do fitness classes 3-4 times per week. I'm using MyFitnessPal app to track calories which is REALLY good, I also have a FitBit pedometer / calorie burner thing which tracks how many steps / calories burned each day. I like exercising because you can still have the odd treat and it doesn't make any difference to the weight loss.

Can't recommend getting a trainer enough. I see mine once a fortnight- because it is quite pricey- but she really pushes me beyond what I think I can do and she sets me targets for the times between sessions. It can be quite pricey but I think it's something sensible to invest in! ?

    Hi ladies,

I totally applaud your determination to lose weight, not just for the wedding but for life. At the end of the day our health is the most precious thing we have and as long as you are losing weight bevsuse it is something YOU want to do then i wish you the very best of luck.

One comment i cant agree with though is that smaller wedding dresses are cheaper. The Sonsie by Veromia range for example begin at £875. You still have the concealed corset, bust support and amazing fit that you have in any Veromia gown. If you have been quoted a higher price for a dress in a "plus" size, which can vary from designer to designer then it is most likely that the designer puts a surcharge on the gown but this shouldnt be the case until you reach for example a size 24 plus. If you went for a plus sized range this surcharge doesnt exist until you get into the 30 plus sizes. Veromia will make any sized gown for a surcharge of £60, which i would consider a very reasonable cost considering that this would then be a "made to measure" gown. This is also a cost that I pay, not the bride, as i dont see that the bride should be liable for this.

Good luck with the weigh loss, it sounds like you are takjnv a very sensible approach but dont lose site of the fact your other half loves you just the way you are, otherwise he wohldnt be asking you to marry him would he!

Boy, do I need a kick up the arse!

Always struggled with my weight, but bought my dress last year in the sale, and bought a 12 as that's what I was in other shops. It arrived, and could only manage to get the zip done up half way. I'd already lost 6.5st with Slimming World, and had a couple more to go, so thought everything would be fine as I have plenty of time to shift the last bit.

Lots of crap (emotionally AND nutritionally) and I've regained over a stone ☹️. Am seriously pissed off with myself cos after trying the dress on again the other day I can't get the zip up as far as I could before!

Anyone recently married selling some surplus to requirements motivation?

Dont lose heart Kizzi, youve done incredibly well in losing that amount of weight. its no myth that wedding dresses are smaller than high street clothes.

have the zip repkaced with a lace up closure, that will give you the extra inches you need and will help take the pressure offf Without this hangung over your head, and with one less thing to worry about you may find the motivatiin yiu nedd.

Awww, thanks ?. Mine isn't a wedding dress though, but a midnight blue ballgown from Debenhams lol. I will get into it (got another couple of years!), going through a major blip at the moment with a load of other stuff that needs sorting out. Just annoyed with myself for undoing the hard work I've put in

I really need to tone up too and do something about my bingo wingos and ‘back fat,’ so aiming to start swimming at the beginning of March.

So where is that we can buy this motivation thingy???

Im doing slimiong world and have currently lost 9lbs. Have 3 and a half stone to go though.

My problem is letting myself get really hungry then eating whatever I can, which usually resorts to being crisps, chocolate or takeaways!!

Hope this post can help me get my fat arse into gear! xx

I love my food way too much but hoping this thread will give me some of the motivation I need.

Don't know whether to be pleased that there is so many of us on here! Pleased for company but not pleased so many of us are having to find the motivation to do this.

I know I said yesterday I'm doing Nutracheck but I'll confess - I flutter between this and Weightwatchers, not really succeeding on either!

I was very successful on weightwatchers, I lost 3st, kept it off for 8 years, put 1st and a bit back on last year (funnily enough when I moved over to try calorie counting).

I find that my gains are bigger with weightwatchers than nutracheck, as I seem to go really off the handles when I go off on one on weightwatchers!

With calorie counting I like that its easier to eat out / see where you at with exercise etc.

But, weightwatchers is handy that I have someone to report to so I can't keep switching my weigh in day.

What a mess :-( Just wish I could stick to something.

    My problem areas are definitely;

    - work kitchen (if people bring in goodies)

    - lunch break (want something nice to eat to break up the day, usually buy chocolate!!!!)

    - evenings (when I get home and can't be bothered to cook so grab anything)

    - boredom snacking (OH has to bring a lot of work home with him, I get bored so eat).

    - not planning or planning boring meals! I just can't be bothered planning or eating whatever boring meal I've planned...

I can't actually believe how much I have to lose to get back to where I was again :-(

The weight watchers dispatched programme was quite shocking I thought. I go to slimming world, and joined long before I got engaged. I am really trying to look at my weight loss as a life style change. I lost 2 stone last year, and would like to loose another 3 this year. With the wedding in July 2014, it is a really good motivator, but it is very easy to say "it's ages away I have plenty of time to loose it". Th big change I have made is my exercise! Rejoined the gym and have actually been really enjoying the classes! I would recommend Slimming World to anyone (I promise I don't work for them), just because it fits so well into your lifestyle! xxx

    Hi All

Can I join you? I hit goal with WW about 2yrs ago. I went up to 12st after an op when I couldn't exercise so hit WW and then the gym and got back to 10st. I was there for a while 1yr+ then went off the rails and ended up back at 11st. Before Christmas and before I was engaged I found my motivation and lost half a stone, and thats where I am still. I'm good during the week and lose a lb or so then think oh it's the weekend a glass of wine/bar of chocolate wont hurt and then start the week have lost nothing again. So I need some proper motivation to lose this half stone for good and preferable a few more lbs for the wedding. I want to look like me but a really really good version of me.

Hi :0) my mum and a few of my friends are doing Slimming World...... It seems lime a fab educational program. They have all said how well they feel, how they can't believe the amount of food they are able to eat (far more than they are used to, just better for you) and all this gives them the energy to be more active so as well as shedding the pounds, they are becoming much healthier too. Like Andy said, our fellas are obviously marrying us for us as we already are, and I did think that I want to be as 'me' as poss on our big day, but now just think of the photos, the eyes staring at my hefty arsenal as I walk down the aisle, the closeup flower pics with my bingo wings in shot....... Erm, noooooo thanks!!! So, the makeup is gonna be well and truly troweled on, the spanx will be piling in any remaining wobbly bits...... But first, I really do need to shift at least half a stone. BUT I LOVE CAKE!!!!!! CARB FREAK ME!!!! Biscuits, chocolate, brioches..... I just can't help myself!!!!!! I need motivating..... Even as I sit here, beslippered feet on comfy CHOCOLATE coloured puffy, MUFFIN top overhanging my skinny jeans, I can feel the bulk around my middle getting squished by my elbow every time I type!!!! OMFlabbyG!!!! Heeeellllppppp!!!! It's no good saying don't put it in the cupboard then temptation is not there..... I live between Jet petrol station and Londis!!!! They have 4 Mars or 6Fudge or 12 little Kinder sticks for £1!!!!! No one in their right mind can resist that!!!!! :0o

    Hi all,

I've been reading your posts and though id share my story. I am also losing the weight for the wedding which is a great start but its also about thinking long term (my married life!). I highly recommend Rosemary Conley...eating most (if not e everything) under 5% fat (per 100grams). I tried slimming world and fir some reason i put on weight! I've lost nearly 3 stone on my version of the Rosemary Conley way of eating now! I originally lost a stone then put 2 stone back on as I was originally seeing it as a diet therefore cutting ALOT of food out and then craving it and then binging out on it but now I see it as a lifestyle change and way of eating so I still eat a little of what I fancy and I still have bad days but as long as on the good days what I eat is low in fat (and i have only 1 bad day and 1 mediocre day a week) then I always lose yesterday's weight :-)

Not sure if my story will help but I think changing the way I thought about food and changing the word diet for lifestyle change or calling it a new way of eating really helped motivate me :-)

    Hi Guys.

Anyone else feel like their head knows they need to lose weight, but they still just can't find the motivation?

I get like an hour a day where I'm like right, crack on, the rest I'm just like ugh, foods too nice to turn away :-(

I know on my wedding day I'll be so unhappy being this weight, so why can't I focus on that?

I may only be 1/2st too ehavy but I can really see it even if no-one else can I will be unhappy if I can't sort it out so why can't I start? Maybe I need to start wedding dress shopping to motivate me!
