I lost 6 stones 2lbs with Slimming World for my wedding. My dress had to be taken in 14 inches! ? Good luck with it.

I started slimming world 3 weeks ago, have lost 6lbs so far, but have a long way to go yet. I'm getting married 2nd Sept 2010 so I have plenty of time, well done on your first week.

    xx

I've lost 5 lbs in 4-5 weeks. Well done but sorry to sound negative but 9lbs in one week isn't healthy. I'm sure your WW leader will advise you appropriately but I'd hope you don't continue to lose so much so quickly.

It's not unusual to lose that much weight on WW in your first week (I lost around 7 back in the day when I started) however you'll find it will even out. 1-2lbs is normal and healthy for every week thereafter!

I'd lost 2 stone 3lb before H proposed, then lost the other 3 stone 13lbs between January 8th 2008 and July 29th 2008. These photos were taken on those two dates:

That is what I'm doing and it's been really easy to do. We can keep each other motivated since our dates are close to each other.

It hasn't been too bad, I've found it easier as time has gone on. After a few weeks of no takeaways etc you lose the taste for them. Although I'd still kill for a packet of crisps!?

    Thanks ?

It wasn't just the wedding that made me decide to lose weight. I joined SW before H proposed (and wasn't expecting the proposal). It did increase the urgency though! I hated the way I looked. I'd been steadily losing, but then when we got engaged and set the date for 7 months later, I had to focus to make sure I lost the weight I wanted to in time. I averaged 1.9lbs a week between January and July last year, although there were weeks where I stayed the same and weeks where I lost 5lbs (and the week of my hen do where I gained 3lbs!) I was pretty hardcore there for a while and it's nice now to be able to take it a bit easier as I'm trying to maintain rather than lose.

I've been dieting since 5th Jan as well just trying to eat less rubbish and exercise and it's going slowly but I've lost half a stone so far. Sometimes it's discouraging that it's taking so long but people are starting to notice.

I joined WW back in September as I injured my ankle and knee so couldn't exercise the weight off anymore. Best thing I ever did.

I lost 15lb and hit my target weight at the start of the month (and that was after I went on a 18 day cruise for Christmas!). Just maintaining now, but I went to WW tonight for the first time in three weeks and I've lost another pound, despite having a disgraceful weekend and having fish and chips last night!

I was already trying to lose weight when I ordered my dress in July, so I ordered it a size smaller than I was. It's now too big and I'm having to have it taken in!

I started Slimming World yesterday. We get married at the end of August 2009 and I want to shed 2 - 3 stone. Seems so unrealistic but I have to keep my mind on the goal and how I want to feel in my wedding dress.

Mel, I have worked out that I need to loose an average of 1.5lb a week. How did you keep motivated to keep going? Do you have any tips to help keep on track?

Also, sorry to mob this post, but how close to the wedding do you have your final dress fitting - just so I can plan the amount of weeks I can diet for. LOL!!

I'm exactly the same, I joined WW on 7th January and have lost a stone so far.... I took last week off as I wanted a treat on valentines day... unfortunately this actually started the wednesday before and lasted until Monday, so much for just valentines! Am back on track now though... my aim for tomorrow is to up the exercise.... and that has nothing whatsoever to do with wanting a couple of glasses of vino!!

Okay, here's my super secret top tip. Buy yourself one of these and one of these. Carry them everywhere and, every time you eat something, use them.

The other things I did (still do, actually) were to do with syns and treating myself. Firstly, although SW don't recommend this anymore, I add up my syns over a week, rather than a day. So, as long as I'm within 70 for the week (as I only allow myself 10 a day) then I'm okay. My week goes Wednesday to Tuesday as I weigh on a Tuesday night after work. Using the syns this way may mean I have none, 1 or 2 on Wed, Thurs and Fri, but 35 on Saturday. I don't use all my syns, I usually use between 40-50 a week, but even in weeks when I used the full 15 a day and went up to 105 in a week (like last Easter, for example) I still lost weight.

Secondly, Tuesday night (after weigh-in) is treat night. I can have whatever I fancy - as long as it's not a takeaway. This helped me because whenever I saw something during the week that tempted me, I'd say to myself, "No, have it on Tuesday night" and I'd be able to resist. Tuesday nights for me usually consist of a nice bit of bread (like a white baguette) with cheese and a packet of wotsits and, if my local Waitrose has any, a slice of their apple and blackberry crumble cheesecake.

If you want a "diet buddy" I'm happy to do that for you. I'm in e-mail contact with a number of hitchers who have joined SW or are thinking of joining. ?

I think i'm going to go back on WW. I lost nearly 2 stone on it a couple of years ago but then i changed my job, couldn't make the meetings and let it slip back on unfortunately! Got 18 months 'til my wedding and lost the 2 stone in 2 months last time so i really must get round to joining again. Think they have a free registration thing on at the moment don't they?

Well done everyone who is losing!!!

I'm another one doing WW - not just for the wedding, I was doing it before, as I pretty much ballooned overnight after moving in with OH! When I met him I was around 10 stone, and was 13 stone 8lbs at my heaviest! ? I'm not even that tall either.

Last year I lost 22lbs and got to around the 12 stone mark and was feeling much better about myself even though I was still overweight. Then it gradually started creeping on again and I got back up to 13 stone 4lbs. Was so demoralising, and so at the start of this year I decided to get right back on track and to really mean it this time. I've lost 8lbs so far and am very motivated, but am scared to death of becoming complacent again and doing all that hard work just to throw it all away.

Melancholie, do you have any tips for that by any chance - keeping on track and stopping yourself getting complacent when you've got a bit of the weight off? Sorry to bombard you but you are living proof it can work!! ?

    HI Ladies,

I have done the ww and sw, they both work great and my mum has hit her target weight on ww. She looks great.

I have between 5 -6 stone to lose before august. I had lost just under 4 stone last year and put it back on between August and xmas STUPID GIRL! I am back to it now and have lost just over a stone again since Christmas, sadly not sticking to it properley. But with 6 months on saturday to go. I think that has to be a kick up the arse, I need. Have joined the gym and so far have lost 5 1/2 inches all over. My dress is to small for me at present, so will be happy when I get into it. I am doing a diet similiar to the cambridge sole source but under my doctors supervision. I have had a great last few days, so cross fingers my head is back to where it should be

I lost 3.5 stone with SW; but have put half a stone on since Xmas. Like others, I did because I needed to lose weight-the wedding was just an interim goal and I lost a bot after the wedding.

Stazzle: As soon as an item of clothing becomes too big, get rid of it. Charity shop, Freecycle, or even the bin! ? I don't dare put any weight back on as I have no clothes to wear if I do! I also think about all the hard work I had to put in to lose it in the first place and that helps.

aimex: For exercise, I'm a member of a gym and went for an hour twice a week. I had personal training for a while. Exercise alone won't lose the weight. I was having personal training before I joined SW and I didn't lose anything, although I did get fitter. It was only once the food was right as well that I started to lose. You don't have to do exercise though. My Mum and a few other people I know all lost weight successfully on SW without doing any exercise alongside it. I do think, though, that I was slimmer at a higher weight because of the exercise, IYSWIM. The exercise helped me tone, so I lost inches quicker.

And yes, I go to all the meetings. It's so helpful having people around you who know what you're going through! Seeing other people having success also spurs you on. I was honoured to be voted regional Woman of the Year last year.

Hi, Im doing the Cambridge Diet and I've lost 16lbs in 5 weeks, ok its not the most sensible of diets, but hey, I get married in just over 5 months and I've ordered my dress two sizes too small, but I'm desperate! I've tried WW and SW loads of times and yes, they work for me, but I've got a mega amount of weight to lose and the diet suits me. My consultant has gone down from a 24 to a 12 in 6 months and she looks amazing, no doubt people may say losing weight far to quickly is unhealthy, but she looks fab on maintenance 12 months on. Here's hoping for a good loss next week. Keep up the good work. Its hard but will be worth it. Good luck.
