Weddings at 12 -2 pm?

sr3693, 11 July, 2011 at 13:22 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hey everyone,

We're getting married at 1pm so I assume guests will be arriving from 12.30 onwards meaning they probably won't have eaten any lunch...this got me thinking & I am slightly worried that guests will be starving by the time the meal is served which will be around 3ish i suppose once photograpghs have been done.

We are having a course meal & paying for a buffet for evening guests; we can't really afford to put on canapes whilst pics are being taken, what do you all think?

We will be serving drinks but do you think we should have something to nibble on?

I've been to a few 1pm weddings and I either have a big, late lunch or have breakfast and then a snack just before I leave. I think nowadays people 'know' that they won't be eating until early evening so fill up before they leave home.

Or you could put on invites when food is served and then guests will know to have a late breakfast.

People should realise that given the timings (we're a 1.30pm ceremony) there won't be food served when there's a meal to follow (if you are having a wedding breakfast or inviting everyone to it, of course) so they should bring something to eat beforehand.

We suggested to our non-wedding breakfast guests that they bring a picnic to enjoy in the New Forest in their 'free time'.

Canapes are very overpriced and not very filling for what you get - a bacon roll would be much more appreciated and probably cheaper!

We are having a 2pm wedding and were given the option of canapes, but we decided against it as we thought our guests would have the sense to eat lunch before the ceremony as they knew the time of the wedding breakfast.

We got married at 12.30 with the WB being served at 3.30pm. We didnt have canapes and we just put a note in the invitations that said:

"We will not be sitting down to eat until late afternoon, so if you are anything like Mr C please make sure you have a hearty breakfast!"
