Hi, just after a bit of advice really. started losing weight about 2 months ago. i have lost 10lbs and thats it- i am stuck! i'm eating healthily (apart from the odd chinese a few weekends ago) i go to zumba twice a week, gym the other 3 days for 45mins and also started going on vibration plate 4 times a week 3 weeks ago but nothing is working!!! ive measured myself with tape measure incase ive lost inches instead of pounds but even thats stayed the same over the last 3 weeks. am really gutted and getting totally fed up of seeing no results for my hard work and finding it harder and harder not to eat biscuits, crisps, chocolate infact anything unhealthy lmao. has anyone got any advice on what to do to kick start it again? thank you ladies xxxxx

    Hello Jade,

the reason why some people stop losing weight is because their metabolism slows down. You started off really well with your routine, did you start a healthy diet as well? As your body mass goes down, your metabolic rate also goes down and so you burn less calories.

PM me if you would like some more advice!

Try writing down everything you are eating (keeping a food diary) perhaps bad things are sneaking in that you kind of dont realise (I do this alot) i.e. picking at the kids left overs, odd biscuit here and there, few glasses of wine, etc. Secondly I would say are you doing the same routine at the gym? If so, try to mix it up. Zumba is great - try doing some more classes but lifting heavy weights, when you build muscle it helps to burn fat. Also are you drinking a good amount of water each day? aim for about 1.5 litres. Well done on the weight loss so far tho, I'm sure things will speed up again soon x

As the lady in the previous post mentioned you need to develop lean muscle tissue in order to burn fat more effeciently... and that doesnt mean you have to start juggling massive freeweights around a gym but it does mean including more resistance training.

As a personal trainer myself zumba gets under my skin, its neither dance nor aerobics...and the classes ive been along to to get a taste of what they are like are barely of a high enough intensity to get warmed up... you would be better off with maybe a legs bums and tums class or if your club has a body pump or body power class these are both great (in my opinion) spin is also a fantastic class to burn off calories... in the region of around 550 -700 calories per 45 mins! I used spin to shake off the bulk of my baby weight!

a diet diary will help monitor whats your eating but be careful u dont become obsessed with every single thing that passes your lips? how about taking up a sporting hobby so the exercise doesnt seem like such a chore! if you like zumba maybe salsa dancing! its great for toning the waist and hips!

Eventually your weight will reach a plateau (stay the same) this is usually ur bodies comfortable natural weight! if your still not happy try to focus on changing your shape... again this is done through weight training...

regardless im sure you look great!

I think tlj333 is right. Your body can get used to doing the same exercises and classes like Zumba might work fine at first, but they aren't intense enough to shift that last bit of fat. What exercises are you doing in the gym?

Recently more and more people are overweight, and more and more people are using different ways to lose their weight and keep their body in good state. But have you ever thought about that using a wrong way to lose weight may do great harm to your health.
