Weight/Dress question

Chidders, 22 June, 2011 at 10:11 Posted on Planning 0 2

So I am now nearing the point of desperation to try dresses on, but I want to lose weight!

Did anyone try dresses on and even buy a dress and then lose weight? Would you still have bought the same dress, and how much can it be taken in? I dont want a certain dress not to suit me and then it would after being 2 stone less.

Thanks xx

Chidders, i did this... i tried on a sample dress in a 12 (i couldnt breath but it did do up - just) and they ordered me a 14 (wanted to order me a 16 based on my hip measurements - thank god i said no!) and i told them i was going to loose weight but they said they would highly recommend getting a dress that fit me then and getting it taken in... easier to take in than out, was their reasoning.

Anyway, fast forward several months and i had managed to get to a size 8/10 and loose about 2 1/2 to 3 stone in weight in the meantime. I was seriously worried as my dress wasnt a lace up back and would need severe alterations! I shouldnt have worried as the seamstress did an amazing job! They had to take it in about 4inches on each side. This meant taking off the grosgrain ribbon sash as otherwise the detail part of it would have been on the side of my body under my arm pit rather than under my boob! Am going today to do my final fitting and to bring my dress home! woohoo!

hey!! yeh i tried on dresses then decided to lose weight!! the dress i tried and bought was 4 sizes too big for me anyway, adn ive since been back after losing over 2 stone and its another dress size to big!! its fine, a good seamstress can take it in no problem!

Most people do it the other way round but this dress happened to be the only one left so i went for it!!
