Weird question

LuxuriousGreenDiamonds247, 6 November, 2014 at 02:39 Posted on Planning 0 5

I'm getting married in a week. I suffer from a bad back and the tablets I am on make me woozy and dizzy if I stand up for too long. Do you think I can sit down for the vows? Has anyone else done this?

im going to call the registry office tomorrow and see what they say but I thought I'd see if anyone knew anything on here.

thanks Smiley smile

I'm sure you would be able to sit down - the registrar would surely rather you sit down than have you pass out and end up face down on the floor!

    Congratulations, by the way!

I think it depends on the registrar. We asked this for my OH has he has spina bifida and struggles to balance when he is stood still for any length of time. They said that they're happy for us to sit for most of the ceremony but there are parts where we must stand. Didn't push it with them though as we're due to have a proper meeting with them in about 3 weeks so will go into more detail then.

I expect they'll be able to sort something out for you.

Really? What if one is wheelchair bound? Must they stand then? Flipping registrars - they make no sense at times...

Could you take your tablets any earlier so the woozyness may have passed by then? Or is it a long-lasting side effect? I hope you get to sit down!

Exactly, this is what I need to clarify when we have our meeting. In their defence, we just asked the woman when we went to hand in our authorities and OH was with me so she could see he wasn't wheelchair bound. That said, if he is unwell around the time of the wedding he could well be wheelchair bound so I do need to speak to them in more detail about that.

I'm sure they'll be more knowledgable when we go for our official meeting (crossing fingers, nervously).

    Thanks everyone.

I rang them and they were absolutely fine with it. All 7 guests will be sitting too so it'll be a very relaxed ceremony.

I suffer terribly from social anxiety too so we are having as quick as ceremony as possible! No readings or music or faffing about. In and out and back to the house for a slap up meal and loads of drinks Smiley smile

I adore my husband to be and we aren't the attention seeking types wanting 100s of guests and spending loads of money etc. just each other, a few family members and that's it. We just want to be married to each other without all the fuss!

    1 week to go!!

Although this may not help In your situation. The lady who did my dress alterations advised me not to lock my knees straight whilst standing during the ceremony as it will reduce the risk of you passing out.

don't know how true it is but il give it a go ha x
