Well, I fell for that, didn't I?

Oh Zippy, 26 June, 2008 at 20:25 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 48

We are meant to be going out for dinner tonight, but H said he needed a short rest before he goes. Fair enough: he's had a tough day.

So we were talking about the self hypnosis CD that we use to get to sleep every night and how it recommends that you use it with headphones on. 'I've never listend to it with headphones', says H, 'I'd really like to'.

So I find him the headphones and now of course he's completely out of it! I'll have to wait for the blooming CD to finish, won't I?

Gah, I'm hungry as well ?

Do you both use it every night? I can see how him nicking the headphones might be annoying though. You don't actually need to listen to it with headphones though, they only say that cos they want to put stereo type effects with different sounds in each ear.

Hope he's finished soon - and not asleep!

We never listen to it with headphones, though I have done in the past and hence I knew about the stereo effects. He was asking why it recommends the headphones, I told him about the stereo effects, he wanted to hear them... Hmmm, if he doesn't wake up with it I'm going to poke him hard. Or order myself a takeaway ?

To the other hitcher (sorry, it's such a pain not being able to see who) - pressing the stop button might be a good idea. Or tripping the trip so that I can say 'it wasn't me, the electricity went off' [whistling innocently icon]

Yep, it was one of the Glen Harrold ones, the Inner Peace and Calm.

Are you studying SH? I'm quite interested in it.

I know. I wasn't too impressed but then he had had a hard day.

We went to the restaurant round the corner from us which is a kind of californian fusion restaurant.

We had dippy bread (variety of breads and oils for dipping) to start. H had 'ecstatic chicken' (free range chicken in lots of nice stuff) and I had 'duck from heaven' (like a duck fajita, I suppose). Then H had cheescake and I had Bailey's Cup, which was a serving of Bailey's in a chocolate cup.

    Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Twas very nice indeed.

Tis a lurvely place (in parts) and a nice day out. Whereabouts are you? We quite frequently pop to Cardiff shopping, so it's not a huge long trip to / from Wales.

Well we both work in Cardiff and live 25 miles west of it just outside Bridgend, so its not that far really. Hmmm <ponders talking to Mr WT about a Cheltenham trip>

Ooh, well, you can either go m4 way (quickest) or up through, erm, can't remember what the area is called but as if you were going towards Ross and through that way. Lovely drive, tis the way we go when we're not in a rush.

A449 / M50? Its pretty that way I admit. I think a little chat with Mr WT is in order for a trip to Chelt, we always look out for different places to visit and it should be a nice run too.

Yes, though if you're coming to Cheltenham you can take the A40 (if it's reopened) as the M50 emerges a little too high up the M5.

The A40 will bring you out through Over and you can follow the signs to Cheltenham.

Let us know if you are coming and we could meet for coffee / lunch / dinner / delete as appropriate if you fancy it.

I might even give you a tiny evil doll's head.... ?

Just had a peek on AA route map and it says 1hr38m so not bad and I can see the point you make about M50, yeah it does join too high up. Hmmmm.

Will certainly let you know if we take a trip up, but please...... no evil dolls heads!?

The roadworks at Highnam/Over are causing chaos at the moment. I got stuck in the outskirts of Gloucester town centre for nearly an hour a few days ago as it had a knock on effect. Allow plenty of extra time, travel well outside peak times or take the long way around.

actually HG that's a good point. It took me over two hours to get home from Gloucester the other day when I came that way. I don't know how long they are scheduled to last, do you?

Oh that's a bugger. Is it because of the flooding last year? I agree, it's really disruptive.

The council pages say it's to replace the street lighting, to improve drainage and to replace the existing road surface. The drainage aspect could well be to do with the floods last year. I can't believe it will be a year ago in three weeks' time. It seems longer.

wow, it does seem a lot longer. I'm quite shocked by that. Were you affected by it?

We were very lucky in that our house wasn't affected and we lost our water much later than many others. The compay I work for were, despite my other general moans about them, brilliant and handed out bottled water every night and booked hotel rooms so that people could reserve a timeslot to go and get a shower.

It does seem like a long time ago.

My house wasn't affected, thankfully, but I got stuck at work all night because the oncoming shift couldn't get to work (and I wasn't willing to risk the roads to Stroud in the dark anyway as information was sketchy at best). There were dozens of people kipping at work that night. One guy set off at 2.30pm to try to get home to Worcester and ended up back at work at 3am because he couldn't get through. At one point we looked out the window to see the Fire Brigade sailing down the road in a boat! It was surreal. A horrible time for all concerned. I felt a little guilty for heading off on holiday on the Monday and leaving it all behind while others struggled.
