Well I Was Calm....

Rizzo, 3 June, 2011 at 12:39 Posted on Planning 0 15

Just received a very late RSVP card from a day guest saying that their partner doesn't eat red meat or dairy. FOUR WEEKS before my weddding! I've spoke to her before about my wedding, told her our menu choices ages ago and she didn't think to tell me his dietary requirements.

Btw, our main course options are lamb and a veggie dish with cheese in....

PS The ex MOH's mother (my aunt) hasn't replied to her evening invite and the RSVP date has been and gone.

Ass. Do you have a vegetarian option he could eat instead? People really do not understand how difficult it it to plan a wedding.

My boss didnt get our invite (posted 4 weeks ago) he told me yesterday he doesnt have a post box (their mansion has only been built 2 yrs...does the postman nail their mail on a tree?) so I leave another invite on his SEAT.

He puts rsvp in work post tray (!!) with no names on it, 'just we would love to come' and 'nil' dietary requirements when I KNOW he is allergic to nuts so quite a serious dietary requirement!

And this man is our MD....disturbing.

Most caterers/hotel etc should be able to deal with this and maybe adapy the veggie to be without cheese, so it might be ok - have a word with them

Although I think if it was me and they were way over the RSVP deadline - I would go back to them and say I am very sorry but you missed the RSVP date and so it is too late for you to come - but that is just 'cos I can be really mean when I get mad!!!

Speak to your caterers/venue and see if they can come up with a suggestion. They will be used to catering for all sorts of dietary requirements. They may make the veggie option without the cheese or may make him something completely different.

I would tell her tough luck!! Bring a sandwich!

Do these people not realise that is what RSVP dates are for??

Why should you now have to stress out trying to find an alternative for those who couldn't be arsed to reply on time!!!

    Grrr makes me mad!!!

I have a similar issue with someone who has just RSVP'd to a day invite - with 'no pate or soft cheese' as she is preggers. She is also 3 weeks late in RSVP.

Our starter is Smoked Mackerel Pate and the veggie option is Roasted Aubergine and chickpea pate - both made fresh from scratch, and have checked with the chef, neither contain any eggs, or soft unpasturised cheese or raw ingredients - both are totally safe for preggo people... I relayed this to her and she wont eat either as has been told that pate can contain listeria. ARGH.

My MOH who is also preggers, has said she is happy to eat the veggie pate (she is veggie anyway) but if we're going to have to do an alternative for the other preggo lady then I will offer her that choice too.

Am currently also waiting on two more rsvp's to the day do - one from our priest, and whislt i know he is around on that day (!) i am not sure if he is doing the 6pm mass which will mean he cant make our meal... I have emailed him THREE times to try to find out! And one from someone's wife who isnt sure if she will be in spain then or not!!?!? How can you not know?? And we've got only 4 weeks to go - but also need to do the table plan this weekend! So think I will have to include them as its easier to remove a place than add one... grrr RUDE!

What a PITA. I'd be inclined to tell them something along the lines of 'well, I'll see if the venue can arrange an alternative given the short notice but I can't promise anything'.
