Hello all,
Apologies for the delay, even marriage doesn't change somethings!! My hitching has still been lacking even though I've not had a wedding to plan.... in my defence I've been planning the 'part 2' bit for the english contingent!!
Anyway..... the proper wedding went really well.
For those who don't remember me I got married to my lovely hubby on New Years Eve in the Western Isles of Scotland. For the weeks prior to our escape up north my colleagues had been joking about me having long johns on under the dress and needing snow boots. I laughed and stressed that the snow doesn't lie up there so I should be fine......... well, I should have kept my mouth shut. It wasnt quite the sexy thermals and big boots they'd thought up but it there was a good helping of the white stuff on the ground and more fell just as we left the house.
Everything went to plan, despite the weather which actually added to everything in the end.
The age old, it past in a flash was true for the day itself but we had another party or 'Banais Taighe' at my mums house on New Years Day and the wedding party redressed in our outfits so that family and friends who weren't at the day itself could have a mini version.
We had lots of live entertainment on both days which to all account made the events for the guests. The girls that sang on the day were out of this world. I really wish I could share their version of 'From this moment on' with you as it even drove the men in the congregation to tears (good tears!!).
On New Years Day we had my cousin playing the pipes some what unexpectedly - he knows how to make an entrance. Another relative sang, played the flute and guitar and a friend of my mum's played the accordian. There was even some 'spoons' played later in the evening.
All in all we had celebrations from the Thursday till we left on the plane for our mini moon in Edinburgh on the Sunday.
I haven't got any official pics yet but there is a sneaky snap which I can share for the time being.
so........... now I can get on with sorting out Part 2 when our two families will actually meet up! To be honest, I think I'm more nervous about this bit than the acutal day.
Hope you all had a fantastic xmas and New Year.
Amee
