West Midlands brides - some suppliers/shop suggestions required!

TenzoSmith, 24 October, 2012 at 22:41 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi all...

Somehow it is nearly 200 days till our (notices I used our, I'm proud of me!) wedding and next week my Mum and Dad are coming down to visit - and see the venue they're paying for!

As I bought my wedding dress on a spur of the moment, I promised my Mum we'd make a girlie day out of Mother of the Bride shopping but I don't really have much clue where to go! I'm based in Lichfield but would be willing to take a trip anywhere I could guarantee 3 or 4 shops with a bit of choice for Mother of the Bride outfits.

Secondly... My dress now needs altering (I'm a short a***) so I'm looking for a seamstress to take it in... It's got a few layers to it so Mam-in-law keeps telling me it'll take a long time, but again I'm looking for somewhere quite local - and would prefer recommendations if anyone has any.

Ta muchly,

x

I'm trying to think what is around here for MOTB's. Only Coast is popping into my head at the mo.

    Hi,

I don't know about specific MOTB shops. But if you go into Birmingham city centre you have Selfridges, Coast, House of Fraser, Debenhams.

As Aimee said really, Solihull or Birmingham probably are best for all those.

Although, under my bridal shop they had a MOB shop, it's in Rugeley.

I would highly recommend Jacques Vert collection, my mum had complete outfits for mine and my sister's weddings.

They do them in House of Fraser and Debenhams. My mum was treated like royalty in House Of Fraser. But for the best stores I would suggest Birmingham City Centre or maybe going to an shopping outlet like Bicester Village.

    There's a massive Primark.

Sorry, I'm being mischevious Smiley smile My mum's only 17 years older than me so a MOTB outfit she will NOT be wearing! Yes, I'm a chav child Smiley winking

Thank you for your suggestions, people...

Booked a personal shopper appointment in Birmingham for my Mum - takes 2 hours! I hope she enjoys it and even if she doesn't get her outfit then, she might have a better idea what she wants/doesn't want.

P.S. I drive past the Rugely dress shop every day on my way to work so we're going to pop in there too!

Yep - personal shopping was brill. Especially with me being there to read her face so could tell the woman she didn't like it! She got a dress and because it's for next May, it was actually this spring outfit reduced!

Well worth a go if your stressing about what you mum should wear.
