West Yorkshire wedding venues.... wedding & wellies?!

Cocktail-Couture, 8 January, 2013 at 19:47 Posted on Planning 0 5

I have always dreamed of getting married in a castle or a country estate like rudding park or ripley castle....

however as much as i love these venues they are putting me off as the cut off time at night ranges from 11.30 to 12.30 and

although my friends family and I are not mega party animals when we do party WE PARTY Smiley smile and i am looking for a venue that stays open a longer

at night.

i am thinking of getting married either at my local church or one of the above venues and moving on to somewhere

for the day/night do has anyone any recommendations or ideas? i have seen wedding and wellies in norristhorpe that is a farm

venue with a papakate tipi tent has anyone ever been or have any reviews of the place?

thanks in advance

When I was at Uni I did a bit of bar work at both Ripley Castle and Rudding Park they are such nice venues, if I lived up that way Ripley Castle would be right at the top of my list. (budget depending!!!)

Every wedding I have been to has finished at about midnight and when your a day guest I think it alright, I know it feels early to finish partying but when you have been up getting ready from first thing in the morning your ready for it to end by then - it also stops those drunken guests from getting too out of control!

I cant comment on any other venues sorry! :-)

The last orders at my venue were 11.30pm and I was worried it was going to be too early.

    It really wasn't though.

We had our ceremony at noon and invited the evening guests from 6pm to give the evening a bit more time.

My New Year's Eve wedding was at Ripley Castle, amazing place - particularly the main castle but have a feeling that their licence ends at midnight on a normal night - it was obviously later on NYE.

On the subject of tipis and wellies, I did a tipi wedding amidst the awful wther we had last month and wellies featured very prominantly! The tipi looked amazing as well, so cosy with the open fires!

I posted some photos on my instagram:

I would agree that most weddings don't go to far beyond midnight anyway, the only one I've seen go later was a bar based reception. Also, it's very likely by 10pm or earlier you'll feel exhausted and ready for bed! Bear in mind you'll probably be so excited the night before you might not sleep well and that you'll be up early for hair and makeup!

I would also agree that most venues will stop serving at around midnight in the West Yorkshire area which is where I'm based. Our daughter's wedding was a late afternoon one, 3pm, and they had an extension until 12.30. The majority of the guests were young friends as we have a very small family and lots of these guests were staying the night at the venue and even then, most people had sloped off to bed by 1.30ish. A lot of DJ's also won't work past 1am so midnight gives everyone time to cool down, chat a while and finish their drinks before retiring. When you've been on the go since the early hours of the morning, you'll probably be grateful for a midnight finish!

Hi, we've booked Ripley Castle for our wedding next year, and if it helps, you can pay for a bar extension past the time it states on the packages? Ours is supposed to finish at 10.30 but we're paying extra to stay a bit longer, its £100 an hour. Not sure whether there is a limit on how long they will stay open though, even if you're paying, but might be worth giving them a ring and asking.
