We've had our first 'can I bring...' today!

cw2b, 25 April, 2014 at 21:23 Posted on Planning 0 5

No point to this post really, just surprised it hasn't occured sooner! OH cousin has asked if she can bring her boyfriend and if money is the issue then she will pay. Firstly, we had no idea she had a new boyfriend and secondly, no you can't bring him when I've not been able to invite people I really want there! So he can come the evening if he must. OH has the task of passing this message on!

I'm hoping we've sidestepped this. I put a personal note in all the invitations to singletons that due to seating restrictions at the venue we were unable to invite them to bring a guest, but that they were welcome to have a partner join them for the evening if they like. Invitations went in the post yesterday so I guess I'll find out soon as if it works.

It's too late to add it to your invites but do you have space in the evening to offer this to your cousin?

Not sure if luckily or unfortunately but we do have space for him in the evening! I think it's so cheeky to ask to bring someone, I would never drem of it if OH wasn't invited!

Totally agree. And if its a family member they should be aware of number limitations and have more sense than to ask. Make sure your chosen guests fill the spaces first, even for the evening do.

My oh Auntie messaged me saying, it's ok if Ryan (who is 18) brings his gf (17) isn't it? Er no! Certainly not at £60 a head and we have never even met her! I would never dream of doing that! X
