What are you all doing for your hen do?

HorseFan, 19 March, 2010 at 10:37 Posted on Planning 0 18

I need some inspiration for hen party ideas ......... not really into clubbing etc and trying to keep it on a strict budget as my sister is a student, best friend on maternity leave, i'm saving for a wedding(!), MIL2b never has any money etc etc

I did have a vague idea about getting everyone round a house (mine/my friends slightly larger house LOL) for takeaway, drinks & silly games and maybe hiring one of those Butlers in the buff to server drinks (cocktails?) but oh i'm not sure, and i'm not sure why i'm not sure ......

So what is everyone else planning?

We are going for an adults only 90's revival weekend, and i cant wait, but probably not that great if your not into the clubbing/party thing, although you could probably make it a fun but tame weekend.

Your idea sounds good! How funny would a butler be!! You could theme the night or something or have an ann summers party for part of the evening.

I am planning on hiring a cottage in the middle of nowhere and then having a girlie weekend. Was thinking of having a film night one night and then an amazing meal the other. As my wedding is off season should be able to hire the cottage relativly cheaply as that too will be off season. Remember that as you have a group of people you can often get discounte rates for different things so you may find that you can afford more than you think with a min payment from everyone. When are you planning to have your hen night? I only ask as my sister in law had an amazing weekend away in Brighton for her's and as we all had enough warning we made reguar payments over the months leading up to it so that we coudl all afford to go, so that may be a possibility as well.

I'm going on the same weekend as Moya!

Your idea sounds good though, especially as you say you aren't into the whole clubbing scene...

I'm a BM for a friend in May and for her hen do we're also going on a 90s weekend, seems like the in thing haha!! My own is a bit far off yet but so far I like the idea of a weekend in London, spending a night at the theatre and then those who want to go out on the town can and those who don't can do something else.

I would seriously consider suggesting to the poeple going that they set up a sanding order for say £10 a month between now and then. That means each of them will have paid £60. As i said this is the wy we did it and ended up doing loads of different things (pottery pianting, cheerleading, stunning meal, barebottomed buttler) al without putting our hands in our pockets.

You asked about the bare bottomed butlers, when we had one he was great. Really loevly bloke who was friendly and up for a laugh and made for some great photos!!

    I've got 2.

The first one was the 1st weekend in March which my sister totally arranged for me. A small group of us went through to Edinburgh and hired an apartment. Had some pamper girls come in to the apartment on the Friday night to do our nails and do massages and then we had drinks, chinese and watched a girlie movie. I was also put through the Mr & Mrs quiz!!!! On the Saturday we went can-can dancing - absolutely fab!!!!! Went out for dinner on the Saturday night and some drinks and came home on the Sunday.

Next Saturday I'm having a local dinner for all the ladies so will just be a meal and drinks - not sure if there is anything else planned for there.

Not sure if this helps at all

I'm off to Dublin 6 weeks today woo hoo ;-))) 20 of us going - and all I sorted out was the flights! I know things have been arranged but haven't a clue what - bit scared to be honest ;-)

We've all been putting £30 a month away since last August - flights weren't too bad, £64 return and the hotel is coming in at around £40 (3 sharing a room, 2 nights).

    xx

We went to Cardiff for mine, I had 3 under 18s so again no clubbng or drinking. We had 2 nights in a 4* youth hostel that was lovely, did a ghost walk on the friday night, city bust tour and shopping on the Saturday with a mexican meal and bowling on the sat night and then home on the Sunday. Worked out at £60 each plus food!

I think your idea for a house party sounds great - main thing is that all your mates come along so the fun will be whereever they are!!! i'd much rather do that than arrange something so overpriced that no one can come.

tinks' idea of people paying £10 (or whatever) a week/month is really good too - i've done that before for girls weekends away. as long as someone takes charge of collecting the money its a really good way to save up xx

All I know for mine is we're going to Edinburgh for weekend Beginning 3rd Sept, 2 weeks before the wedding which is panicking me a bit but that's all I know. My sister/BM is organising the whole lot.

My friend had a naked butler and it was so much fun. It was lovely surprise as some of the others had organised it as a surprise. but I think they paid like £65 for 2hrs work. Not cheap!

No idea what i'm doing for mine - my BMs are organising it - but one will be 8 months pregnant at the time so i'm not expecting anything wild!! ?

Revolution do cocktail lessons - they're great fun.

A good old girlie pyjama party could be good fun - cocktails, movies, dancing.
