What are you doing the day after?

Little_MrsA2B, 26 August, 2015 at 18:28 Posted on Planning 0 41

Hi all

It's so fab to read everyone's plans for the big day. I wondered what people do the day afterwards?

We have quite a large foreign contingent flying in from various places which is amazing. So we'd really like to spend more time with them in the days after the wedding. We're not going on honeymoon until about 6 months later so we aren't whizzing off.

We were thinking maybe we could hire somewhere and do a bbq or hog roast the next day. But then again, this means more money Smiley sad

If any OMs have any words of wisdom, please feel free to share!

I've heard of a few people doing that and it sounds lovely. We are marrying abroad. Might be husky mushing for us. No guests.

We're going to be having breakfast with everyone else who's staying over. Then probably going home for some chill time just us.

We walked back across to the blacksmiths to take a few pics, then drove home and got takeaway for tea. I wanted it to be just us and it was.

We'll probably have to head back out to the point reception (village hall) to make sure it's all cleared up and hand the keys back over. Then we'll meet up with anyone who wants to at a pub somewhere for the afternoon before finalising our honeymoon packing so we're good to drive to gatwick Monday (we fly Tuesday!) x

I think we'll be having lunch with any guests that are still about. We're not leaving for our minimoon until Monday morning so a Sunday roast sounds good to me!

The day after our wedding is New Years Day. Our close friends and family, for the most part, are staying at the hotel after the wedding so we will have breakfast with them. The at about 3/4pmmy Mum is going todo an 'open house' for food and drinks. Food will be trays of party food from M&S along with crisps, garlic bread and cheese n biscuits - so minimal effort!

We'll have a leisurely morning with our guests who stayed in the hotel with us before waving them off and heading straight on our honeymoon! :-)

The following day for us is New Year's eve. We are staying at the hotel for another evening and attending the gala event. My mum is having an open house for tea on New Year's Day so will probably see a quite a few of our guests again :-)

We'll have breakfast with everyone who stayed at the hotel then we'll need to return the sports car I hire for OH, if I manage to get it, then probably our kilt hire will need to be returned and marriage licence taken to registry office but I might try and get some volunteers to do that!

We we have lots of family travelling over so later in the day my mum is going to do an open house. We won't be going on honeymoon until 2 days after the wedding at earliest but still might need to pack!

We are having a DIY marquee wedding so the Sunday will be spent clearing out the marquee and putting everything away. Quite a few people have offered to help so we will make bacon sandwiches on camping stoves for everyone while we are tidying up. X

We'll be having breakfast with our guests in the hotel. We also have a lot of people flying in for the day, so we're going to have a bit of an 'open house' from late afternoon for family and friends to make a bit more of a weekend of it. As a PP put above, it's going to be all pre-ordered platters and maybe a bit of BBQ (weather permitting) - minimal effort!

Well we will be up first thing with family members to take down all the decorations from the reception area. We'll then be having breakfast with them and probably go for a walk along the seafront - we live in Portsmouth and the beach is only over the road from the reception hall Smiley smile

We hang out with them for a few days before we go off for our honeymoon (somewhere in Greece - either Santorini or Skiathos)

So I'm not entirely sure what's happening the night of the wedding - we don't have accommodation at the venue but we live 5 minute drive away and most of my family live close by. If we're all at a nearby hotel, meet for breakfast and then go separate ways. My parents have been talking about having an open house for a BBQ in the afternoon so that might also be happening...

We are planning to have a BBQ or maybe even a small hog roast in my parents' garden. Any family who have travelled a long way will hopefully pop in for a bit before they set off home.

I also really wanted a bouncy castle for the wedding but my venue won't allow one so I am hoping I can squeeze an adult one into the garden on the Sunday

I'll be picking up the dogs! I'll be missing them like crazy by then. And maybe try to see some of the people who have travelled a long way for the wedding.

We have breakfast booked at the hotel we're staying at for the morning after. Then we need to go back and clear up the reception venue, and then we're thinking we will stay an extra night in the hotel to relax, probably use the spa a bit. So a mixture of socialising and spending time alone.

Well we had a family breakfast the morning after (parents, siblins, nieces, nephews, plus an uncle and partner who'd travelled from Sweden) and when H and I disappeared off for a few days of "us" time in the city, everyone close to us gathered back at the inlaws to have a bbq to celebrate us, without us! hehe

Jamborina my first thought was similar, that I'd need to get home for my cat! All the people we would usually get to pop in if we're away will be at the wedding so she'll be alone from when my OH leaves about midday on the wedding day til we come back the next day. We'll leave her plenty of food and water but I hate to think of her alone for too long! I'm already thinking how much I'll miss her while we're on honeymoon haha.

All of our guests, with the exception of H2Bs children, are staying overnight at our venue so the next morning will be a gathering for breakfast and then we'll leisurely make our way back home and will collect our dogs from the kennels in the afternoon.

We have a few days between our wedding and honeymoon and we're out for a meal with our friends on the Monday night (armed with the middle tier of our wedding cake) so that will be nice.

I have no idea what I am doing yet, too far away, but I have spoke to a couple of friends who have held a "Wedding breakfast" if you like. They organise a nice slap up breakfast/dinner for the following day at a local establishment. I'm guessing everyone pays for themselves, otherwise it would cost a fortune.

    Hog roast sounds amazing though!

We are staying at our venue the night of our wedding with most of our friends and family also staying so will meet everyone for breakfast on the Sunday morning.

I hadn't thought about an afternoon type event but now I'm quite keen to keep the celebrations going!! This is giving me lots of ideas. :-)

Cleaning up! Hopefully with the help of some family and bridesmaids... ? My then-husband (eek!) and I are staying at the venue in a self catering cottage, so I'm hoping that some of the people staying in hotels nearby can come over, help us clean the venue a bit, and then have a nice lunch or something. And we're close to Stonehenge, so I'd love to take our foreign guests there, but that might be a bit too ambitious...

We'll have breakfast with those who are staying but we need to be out by 10:30am so we'll probably start the long drive up to the Lake District for our minimoon then. We've got dinner all booked and ready for us at our hotel the next night.
