What are you doing the day after the wedding?

TamarValleyGirl, 10 June, 2012 at 10:06 Posted on Planning 0 31

We've purposely chosen to get married on a Friday so we can see our friends and family again on the Saturday before everyone travels home on the Sunday. riends of ours did this, and it was lovely. We got on well with people at their reception that we'd never met before, so it was lovely to have the chance to see them again the next day.

We're thinking of inviting people to join us for a walk on Dartmoor and afternoon tea at a country house hotel - weather permitting! We don't plan to go on honeymoon until a few days after the wedding - it depends on flight prices ?

What are you doing?

We've got quite a few people coming from abroad and we would like to spend as much time with them as possible. We are reserving a load of tables in a lovely pub beer garden and meeting the wedding party, close friends and guests from abroad for a pub lunch and an all day drinking session!

Our venue doesn't have bedrooms but we are staying in a hotel not far, but most of our friends and family don't live far so they are all going home. A few friends are staying so we will have breakfast with them in the hotel and then we plan to meet with our immediate families for lunch and a few drinkies, and then I don't want to see them all again for at least a week LOL!

Oh I hadn't thought about this but now I want to do something! I like the idea of inviting everyone for a carvery! We don't have a hotel yet so we don't know where we will be staying.

I must get on to this

Thanks for making me think TammerValleyGirl hmmmmm....?

We're staying in a fancy pants hotel in Belfast, then driving to Dublin to get the boat on the Monday, head back to Manchester that night and fly out on honeymoon on the Tuesday morning.

    Can't wait!

Where in Tavistock??? I'm at St Eustachius and the Town Hall. We're planning to go to church the following morning, then maybe suggest a Dartmoor walk depending on photo timings. Maybe a visit to the Fox and Hounds if the weather co-operates, although the long range forecast is not looking that hopeful!

We've got people staying at the venue with us and a lot of other people will be in nearby hotels so we're going to go down to the local pub after we've checked out and say if poeple want to join us for drink/lunch before hitting the road then they can.

This is assuming we go on honeymoon on the mon, if we have to have a flight on the sun night then we prob won't be able to do this.

It's my Mum's Birthday so all the people who are staying overnight are joining us for a big breakfast in one of our venue's private dining room which they are decorating for us with balloons and banners etc. We'll be having birthday cake (I know its breakfast time and not really time for cake but it's her birithday so had to be done-lol!) and giving her gifts etc. After brekkie, OH and I are going straight off on our mini-moon to Wales and my family and friends will bring all the "stuff" back to our house for us.

Were having the church and our reception is city centre too, so people can just stay in Holiday Inn or Travelodge or B&B etc. Have you thought about city centre, one of the big hotels maybe? Or St Elizabeths House in Plympton has accommodation. St Mellion or China Fleet in Saltash?

We had a lazy day at home with the kids as we were all cream-crackered. My daughter was meant to go to her dad's but refused as she was too tired, luckily he was ok about it. A couple of parents came round for a cuppa in the afternoon, and we spent the evening opening cards and gifts, making a 'thank-you' list as we went. We had the following week to tidy up, return borrowed items and prepare for our familymoon.

We've booked our honeymoon suite for an extra night so there's no rush to check out etc.

Our day will start by joining our guests who stay at the hotel for breakfast in the morning and then we plan on making the most of the honeymoon suite and hotel facilities, like going for a swim and our room has a jacuzzi in it which I know we won't get chance to use on the wedding day etc

We then have to leave in the early hours of the next day to drive to the airport for our honeymoon!

The day after is my birthday! We'll have breakfast with out of town guests/parents at the hotel were staying in. Then probably open cards/write thank you list. Then i don't know! We're hoping to go somewhere for a honeymoon the day after but might get something last minute.

Breakfast at the venue on the sunday morning, then maybe an afternoon open house where friends and family can tag along if they would like of tea and food at either my mums or PiL's or maybe a meal out. Then in the evening D and I are heading off to a posh hotel we have booked for the night.

We're having a family picnic as most people are staying over in the hotel and can join us the next day (ours is a Thursday wedding)

Just been to a wedding where my OH and I spent the next day sightseeing and then about 15 of the guests met up with the bride & groom for a more relaxed meal - the wedding was a very formal affair with lots of guests so it was nice to spend more than 5 mins with them!

We are getting married on a Friday and will have breakfast with our guests at the local hotel we'll all be going to after the party has finished at our venue. Then we will be hitting the road and going to a spa hotel somewhere for a few nights as our minimoon - we're not going on honeymoon until about 8 weeks later, due to work commitments (bleurgh! Although I am hoping it will help me to beat the post wedding blues, spreading out the 'nice' things a bit).

We are staying in our venue for a further 5 nights after the wedding, it's a private villa in Ibiza. So I expect that we'll have a lazy day by the pool, looking at other peoples photos, and eating and drinking what we like ( I won't have to fit in a wedding dress anymore!!) I'm pretty excited about this, although not as much as the wedding of course. ?
