What are you doing/did the day after?

Pink Han-bag, 21 January, 2013 at 18:56 Posted on Planning 0 15

If anything that is?!

We're not going on honeymoon for 10 days so no real rush to get anything done and we have family travelling from down south for the wedding so it'd be nice to see them off so to speak. At my cousin's wedding in December her Mum and Dad hosted lunch the next day for anyone that wanted and it was quite nice to see everyone again and I'm sure it was lovely for the bride and groom. I know my Mum would be happy to host something for us.

I like the idea of extending the wedding as long as possible ? we will be having breakfast the next day with some guests that are stopping at our venue too.

If we were closer to home we would have done just this. As we were in a different county my parents and the in laws stayed an extra night and we all went for lunch and had some drinks. Very chilled and nice.

My sister who got married in May 2010 had a BBQ the next day for close friends and family that hadn't already left to go home... I am not 100% sure what we are going to do maybe find somewhere for lunch with close family and then head to our hotel before jetting off on honeymoon..

Maybe a bbq or a meal out? or if you have a big enough place serve some food at a family's house Smiley smile

Clearing up the venue lol. Depending on when we get kicked out of the accommodation, and who is still left with us, we might all have lunch there or head off to a pub. After that I have no idea

We are all staying at the venue so going to have a nice breakfast together with both families. We are going on honeymoon hopefully the sun or mon so won't have too long to wait, might get a cheeky wee night in a hotel before.

when my sister got married my mum hosted a BBQ and it went down a treat, we are having one the day before we get married at the venue so I don't want to do another so soon.

Most of our friends and family are staying on for another day. We're going to have a clay pigeon shoot at the estate OH and I are staying at, then a walk on Dartmoor and lunch or afternoon tea.

We are going on our honeymoon. Flights at 7pm following day from our wedding.

Otherwise we could have gone to my in-laws for a family BBQ.

Bit gutted we are missing out on that now actually but it was cheaper to go on our honeymoon on the Sunday so thats what we decided to do.

We'll have brekkie with whoever stays over at the hotel. We've put a bit of an open invite for people to meet us in the pub for a cheeky drink/bit to eat late afternoon for any who are sticking around/work people/anyone who couldn't get the day off/just wants to extend the fun. Nothing manic tho - just a couple of drinks and a few pizzas. Then we're staying in the hotel for an extra night

I'm a teacher, so we aren't going on honeymoon until the 6 wk hols. But we are going on a mini moon the day after, which is a surprise from my parents! We are staying in the lovely bridal suite on our wedding night, then having breakfast with whoever else stays over and then heading off!

It's getting so close now, I'm excited and stressed in equal amounts!

My parents are doing a lunch too for all family, its an open invite so people can just turn up whenever. We're not 100% sure if we will or not, I'd love to spend the day with just OH slmuped at home before we drive down to the isle of wight the next day, but we'll have to pick up our dog and my car, so will have to show our faces at some point.

We had a lie-in (of course!) then opened a few pressies in our hotel room with my dad and BMs, before packing up everything else into Dad's car. Then we had a lazy pub lunch, to which various of our guests who had been staying nearby dropped in, and then everyone else headed home, except for us, as we had an extra night at the hotel, and Dad, who very kindly drove all our presents back down to London and took them all up to our flat!

We're having breakfast with around 60 of our guests. Then we're off on our mini moon!

Our actual wedding was abroad, and the day after we headed off to the first of our uber luxury honeymoon destinations. The day after our UK reception we hosted an afternoon do at home which was lovely - people dropped in for drinks and food all afternoon. It was a lovely day so we were all mostly outside in the garden.

We are staying at the venue over night as are quite a few of our guests so we will breakfast with them, then we have to be checked out at 10.30 ( hoping we can arrange a late check out but will have to wait and see) then we will drive back to ours and take delivery of OH's kids from his mum and dad ( they are having them for the night of the wedding) then we will be packing like mad and making sure the house is clean and tidy before we head off on honeymoon the day after. We will also have a special family tea as the kids will go back to their mums having spent the summer hols with us when we go on honeymoon.

I suspect the day after our wedding might end up being more rushed than the day itself - I could kick myself for not having thought this through properly

We are getting married over 2hrs away from home so the day after will go hectically like this -

    - pack everything to come home into the cars

    - Lunch at the venue with some relatives before we all go our separate ways

    - 2+ hr drive back to drop everything off at home

(including kids who WILL behave wonderfully for my parents who have agreed to stay at our house with them to allow us to go on honeymoon)

    - Mad rush to ensure everything is packed in the cases that should be

    - Run through written list of arrangements for kids clubs with my mother twice and then my father just in case my mother loses the list !

    - Repeat how to work the domestic appliances to my mother several times so she can be sure how they work ?

    - Run through written list of arrangements for kids clubs etc for a 4th time ( just so my mother is sure she has it ! )

    - Squeeze and kiss the kids goodbye and as I check for tickets and passport etc AGAIN !

    - get back in the car for 1.5hr drive over to Cheshire with new hubby ? for 2 night hotel stay before honeymoon flight on the Tuesday morning .

YEAH ! totally average chilled out day is planned to recover from our wedding !! ?
