What are you going to do the day after?

Cache13, 3 December, 2014 at 20:34 Posted on Planning 0 21

We get married on a Saturday and fly out the Monday morning about 6am for our honeymoon in Indonesia.

what do you do the day after that isn't such a bump back to reality? We have exclusive use of the hotel on site at our venue so all the family are staying and we are all going down to breakfast next morning together.

But what do we do between breakfast Sunday and early Monday morning?? We could travel to a hotel but when we are there .... Then what?!

This time, travelling 200 miles to return the step-daughter to her mother, whose turn it is to have her for the Christmas holidays. Fiance will be collecting her on the Saturday whilst I do the last minute stuff like taking centrepieces to the venue (and get my nails done, natch ?) and we're both taking her back on the Monday. Our honeymoon isn't until 7 weeks after the wedding as I'm a teacher and we didn't have time to marry and honeymoon in the Christmas holidays. Works out quite nicely, though, as we fly to Iceland on Valentine's Day.

The first time I got married, we had breakfast at the hotel with the extended family then went out for Sunday lunch with the immediate family (parents, siblings and the one grandparent we had between us) and stayed a second night at the hotel. On the Monday we travelled home, Tuesday we slobbed about the house (ex in a grump, me packing) and Wednesday we flew to Rome.

We went to the park with some of our families and just chilled out and had a picnic then had dinner in the evening. It helped that OH's brother was over from Germany with his family so they stayed an extra night at the hotel, as did other family members.

We are spending 2 nights at a local castle and having a few luxuries organised like a wine tasting at the vinyard and a horse and carriage ride. Then a couple of days at home before heading off to Egypt for our 7 day honeymoon

We will have breakfast with all our guests in the hotel then pack everything into the car putting stuff that can be taken home into my daughter's car.

We will then wave the family off late morning and drive the hefty distance of 1/4 mile to our honeymoon spot of our caravan Smiley smile We'll unpack what we need from the car, decorate the caravan and awning with bits we've put aside from the reception tables as we'll have some fresh flowers as well as our pretty stuff which means we're really lucky and get to enjoy the look and feel of our wedding for a whole week more Smiley smile .

I would imagine we'll then flop with big grins on our faces.

Later, we'll probably walk back to our fave bar/pub which is attached to and part of the venue, so we can relive our day again Smiley smile. We'll have an evening meal, stagger back and flop into bed exhausted at stupid early o'clock. If we see past 9.00pm I'll be amazed.

Then we're already on our Honeymoon Smiley smile

    Lapland, your plans sound amazing.

We are planning a breakfast at the hotel the day after, but family only, so they can get to know each other a bit better.

Then we will drive with my family to my grandparents who wont be able to attend the wedding and we are having a party there with some extended family members and friends.

So the week after the wedding will be busy, but then we are flying home and its back to work. :-( We are not going on honeymoon until 4 months after the wedding.

We have a breakfast planned the next morning with anyone who stayed at the same hotel, plus anyone else who wants to join. After that it will be back to the reception venue to clear everything away, and hopefully fit in a spa treatment back at the hotel. We may stay on another night too, not sure yet. Having a breakfast thing with everyone is the one thing I've always wanted to do.

As you have a day before flying, a top tip from a friend of mine was to compare notes with all the family and find out any funny bits/ favourite bits of the wedding that you may not have noticed, and start looking at the family snaps!

And/or just chill out, although your wedding will have been a happy day, you'll inevitably have been on pins for at least some of it, so take the opportunity to just relax into being a Mrs!

Our venue only has nine bedrooms plus ours so of those staying we'll hopefully all have breakfast together (its a proper early breakfast though so have to make sure everyone is awake!) and then I dont know - Id like to go for a pub lunch or picnic if the weathers nice but Im not sure what we'll do in the few hours before lunch, maybe all back to ours for lots of tea! Most of our friends and family will need to travel back on the Sunday (everyone lives 1 - 3.5 hours from us) so then we get a few days just us before going on honeymoon 2-3 days later. We're not planning on going to work between the wedding and the honeymoon if we can help it, so we can mooch about being married :-D

We are getting married Saturday afternoon, and have an early morning flight on the Monday.

We will have breakfast at the venue with anyone who has also stayed over, on the Sunday morning. I don't expect this will be too early!

There is a spa at the hotel that is available, free, for all guest staying over, so we are suggesting people bring their cossies and we can all have a relaxing couple of hours in the spa before people head off home. Hopefully, it makes it a nice weekend break for those who have travelled a reasonable distance too - as often wedding weekends end up being rushed and expensive and then it is back to work before your feet have touched the ground, so I hope they make the most of the facilities.

H2B (although by then he will be H!!!) have then booked in for a couples massage at the spa, mid afternoon. We will then head off to the cemetary to lay flowers for our parents, before travelling down to the airport. We've booked in a hotel there, and will have dinner and an early night before getting up soooo early for our flight.

I suspect the Sunday will actually whizz by!

I think that if you have time to kill, a nice walk together would be a good option. Alternatively, you may find people just happy to mooch around the venue for a couple of hours reading the papers, and re-living what a fab time they had at your wedding!

Just getting in the car and doing the 200-odd mile drive back home. I want it to be low-key and just the two of us - I'm pretty sure I'll be emotionally exhausted from the wedding day!

This is a good idea, sadly our venue is a purpose built wedding barns venue so not much option for hanging around there but no reason we cant all flock to a nice nearby hotel and have tea and cake and papers and walk around their gardens before heading off for lunch somewhere!

ETA When I say 'sadly' i dont mean sadly at all, I love our venue so much I wouldnt care if they kicked us out at midnight with no where to go!

We're similar, also flying out Monday am after Saturday wedding. I'm hoping to pick the doggies up from the kennels, have lunch with our parents probably a pub, and a nice walk with them and then we'll travel down to heathrow, spending the night in a hotel.

I was adamant that I didn't want to do anything the day after my wedding.

We checked out of our hotel, went for a walk and then went home. I didn't want to do anymore. I'm not really the most sociable of people so the thought of having to 'entertain' the next day was just too much tbh.

In your shoes i'd probably be getting sorted for the honeymoon. Packing, ironing etc etc. I don't think you'll have time to 'bump back to reality' before going off.

We're getting married on the saturday and flying out on honeymoon on the Monday, and plans for the Sunday all depend on whether my Gran (93) makes it to the wedding - if she doesn't, we're all going to get dressed up on the Sunday and take the wedding to her!!

if she makes it, we'll have breakfst with wedding party (all staying at the venue) and then maybe take my flowers out to my dad at the crem before doing last minute packing and chilling before the early monday morning flight

We get married on the Wednesday but don't head off on honeymoon until the Saturday. I'm hoping that, seeing as the day after the wedding is my eldest brother's birthday, we will have a family lunch, as we normally do on his birthday, so I'll get to see lots of people who were at the wedding and hear all about it from their point of view, and hopefully see a few family pics! I'm then intending to spend the Friday packing whilst also checking and re-checking that I have my passport, plane tickets etc.
