What are you having as Cake Toppers? Anyone seen any Minis? Opinions Please!

*Mini*, 19 April, 2011 at 20:29 Posted on Planning 0 15

We have no idea whats going on top of our PolkaDot cake untill a few days back wehn MrMini decided that we could haveminis as our cake topper, I have found a perfect replica of my first car here;

its £18.99 ?

I need to find a Mini Red Hot [for those of you with mini knowledge!] but ebay does not have any. Any one know where I can get some from?

OR

do you think it will look pants and I need to go back to the drawing board?

    I think it's a great idea, but then I'm looking for a VW T25 Camper just like our own, but like you I'm not having much luck.

    Sorry I can't help, but good look with your search x

    I was thinking about having a topper made of us in, or next to a mini, haven't gotten around to seeing whether anyone will do it or how much it'd cost though :/ luckily for us a '72 pick up or a '92 mayfair done up to look like a cooper would do!

    I've had a search and can't find one, I would have thought that die cast models would be your best bet, but I could only find red versions of other models, sorry.

    Have you tried asking on theminiforum whether anyone has one that they'd be willing to sell to you, or just asking in general on there might get you a model!

    Our cake lady is making a copy of OH sports car with him sticking his head out of the window with a glass of champagne and me on the bonnet. It will be iced but inedible so we will keep it.

    Does it need to be replicas or would you have "cartoonesque" clay versions of minis?

    Would a toy one do? Someone once gave me a little Mini hot wheels type thing as a joke cos I have always wanted a mini, and they picked it up in tesco extra for a few quid from the toy section.

    I love the Mini idea!

    We couldn't find any we liked so have decided not to bother, instead we are putting 2 pots of Play Doh on each table and asking people to design us some toppers. The best table gets a prize, and will see their topper in pride of place later on that evening I expect. We weren't too bothered about having anything specific on the top of the cake but we do want people to have a fun day so this seemed like a good solution!

    I thought you could maybe use the silver one as "you", and then they're £15 each (so cheaper than the one in your OP) with a spare! But it's not the same model as the one you linked, and I'm not even sure if they're the same scale. That one on ebay seems to be the only model version of the "Red Hot" variant around, couldn't find any more. There are other red minis around though, if it doesn't have to be Red Hot, try Model Zone or the Corgi and Matchbox websites.
