What are you having for favours?

lisaanne, 20 November, 2011 at 20:32 Posted on Planning 0 46

I thought I knew what I was having for favours (glass jars of different purple and green sweets, my colour scheme) but been looking and there's so much choice, i'm not sure any more! I want something that's not going to get left on the tables!!

So what are you having? And for any OMs around, what did you have, and did it go down well?

I am having wine charms for the women as my auntie has a friend who makes personalised ones so I get a deal plus I am known for my love of wine.

And for the men its everton mints as OH is a massive evertonian, has been for 22 years and we have incorporated Everton Blue into our theme (to rescue me from getting married at the ground!)

Both tie in nicely with us. And relatively cheap.

We had a mini perfume/aftershave and a charity pin (different bits and pieces for the kids).

Everyone loved them and not a single one was left.

We we're going to have sweets but then decided we wanted a sweetie table so don't want to have sugar overload!! So now we're doing candles in jars and I'm going to stick on purple fabric butterflies we also ordered stickers with butterflies on with our names and date of the wedding, now sure if they will go on the candle holders or the sweetie bags.

I made personalised wine glass charms with turquoise chips and the guests' initial. Materials from ebay... worked out very cheap!

They went down a treat and also added to the colour on the table and guests could identify their glasses!

Old books - hopefully relevant to each person! And a bookmark with their name on for table name places

I originally planned on having "wedding day" scented yankee candles in little bags.

We have since changed our minds though, every wedding favour I get I put in a drawer and forget about until I'm spring cleaning and I'm ashamed to say i usually bin them!

We have therefore decided to go down the route of a charity donation, both my grandmother (who I was extremely close to) and OHs grandfather sadly died of cancer. So instead of just making the donation we are buying little Cancer Research pin badges and sticking them on little cards which will read

Mr and Mrs Mc have made a donation to Cancer Research in loving memory of ... and ... who are both in our thoughts on our special day x

Nice way to remember them aswell I feel, and I don't mind if people dont keep em forever, as money is still going to a very good cause!

Mrs C, where did you get those letter charms from? Was there a particular seller on eBay you got them from?

We are not having any, after 10 years working in hotels, I've thrown away more favours than I care to remember...unless it's something really unique that you know the guests will take with them then I'd not bother. Sorry!

I don't know yet but it will be edible. As the others have said, lots of favours get left. If anybody leaves chocolate or cookies though that's just more for me ?

We kept it really simple and had Haribo (the OH loves sweets) in a cellophane bag with a personalised sticker.

I keep changing my mind, I'm now onto my 5th option....but for the girls I have decided to hand out personalised fans before the ceremony as it will be really hot in Italy (hopefully), don't know about the ment OH wants miniature whisky but it means travelling with them.

Us three! Making blackberry and apple jam with blackberrys from my mum and dads garden and putting it in cute little jars we found on ebay, topping with material and tying with twine. We also have little lables which will be attached to the jar to double as place names.

We bought them from this seller who has 100% feedback -

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/70-Personalised-Wedding-Stickers-Seals-Silver-Rings-/180514823809?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Celebrations_Occasions_ET&var=&hash=item6fc267af47

It's a bit annoying that they're only sold in sheets of 70 but we used the left overs for sticking on the back of invite envelopes and to seal our confetti bags too.

Oh I LOVE your thinking purple pixie, someone after my own heart. I've even tried to convince OH to let me have a bag on the day to have some choc in!

Not entirely sure on favours but will most likely be chocolate based

We're having charity pins, in a little box with a note explaining why we have chosen the charity. Felt the money was better spent being given to charity rather than something that people probably wouldn't use again.

If I can sort it out I'd like us to have cookies with people's names iced on so they would double as placecards ? I figure that even if some people don't like cookies we can find someone who'll eat them ?
