What are you having for your buffet???

Pollyjean35, 25 February, 2011 at 11:18 Posted on Planning 0 22

We are stuck as to what to do for our buffet, originally we were having half rolls and sausage etc and the other half a finger buffet but im not thinking of doing the whole buffet in morning rolls. What are you all having and how much do you need to cater for? We are having 120 guests!

We decided not to have a normal buffet in evening as i have seen sooo much be left over at other weddings!

we are havign bacon butties and fish and chips in cones at about 930pm when everyone feels peckish! followed by our tower of cupcakes from the wedding cake!

We will have nearly 140-150 in total in evening but only really catering for about 130 x

I love the idea of the chips in cones, are the hotel providing this for you or is it something you had to suggest yourself?

    Our hotel's basic package is

    Sandwich selection

    Mushroom & Tomato quiche

    Sweet & Sour chicken drumsticks

    Cocktail sausage rolls

    Vegetable crudites and dips

    Crisps and nuts

We're changing the sweet and sour chicken for another flavour (garlic and herb or something like that) as I don't like sweet and sour.

We'll also be dishing out the wedding cake for dessert.

We are having cheese and crackers, chutney, pate and grapes etc and any leftover wedding cake will be put out too. Love the bacon butties idea, but we are having a BBQ for our meal, so felt it was too similar.

We're having a variety of different types of pies for our buffet - we're having our reception at a football club so OH thought it was fitting ? we both love pies too so we're more than happy with it lol

There's an award winning pie man that we know from when we used to have a stall at the farmer's market and he's going to cater for us at wholesale prices - we'll probably get loads and let people take some home if they want, I know our parents will definitely want some, they love his pies

We are having either a BBQ (summer evening, hopefully fits nicely) or bacon/sausage butties. Sandwiches etc worked out just too much per head and our potential caterer said if we go for the butties option it is as many as anybody wants to eat, she will keep producing them all night if she has to!

I really didn't want what I would call a 'beige buffet' so we are having a suckling pig, with various accompaniements, apple sauce, fresh rolls, a selection of salads, duck and hoisin wraps and a cheese selection with various chutneys and fruit.

We are having a pate and cheese board for buffet with some traditional 'finger food' as well, but trying to keep it quite 'rustic' really. Oh, and we're going to serve our wedding cake (chocolate) as well.
