What are you having on your tables?

Noodle2Be, 13 October, 2010 at 16:01 Posted on Planning 0 41

I'm just interested to hear about what you are all having on your tables, as I'm unsure what to have myself - ideas would be appreciated! Smiley smile

Vintage tea cup and saucer with individual name tags are being used as name places.

In the centre I am having a stack of a few old books held together with ribbon, with jam jar candle holders with lace round them which I have started making.

I've also started collecting tall vases to fill to the top with green apples and smaller versions to fill with limes.. These wont be on the guests tables though, they will be around the room and a couple on the top table.

We are having tall vases in the centre filled with cream roses, little tea lights approx 4/5 to a table, lottery tickets in lovely pearlescent envelopes, pearlescent favour boxes with an organza ribbon filled with chocolates, little heart name holders, table name holder, and the usual white linen, menue's etc, we are having white chair covers with ivory organza bows.

No, I've never heard of it til now.. Just googled and now need to spend ages nosying on there lol.

After reading your post though I now have another thing I NEEEEEED! Hessian, can't believe I hadn't though of it! I hadn't a clue what to use for table runners, I love gingham for the picnic look but didn't think it would fit in with all the other stuff.. and didn't want the regular table runners that chair cover companies used. I think I'm gonna use raffia to tie the name tags to my tea cup handles so it might all tie in.. I'm worried I'm overthinking everything and am going to have a table full of junk and it will look like a jumble sale!

Oh, Sherrie, I shall definitely be in touch about that if you don't mind? We're going for a very 'natural' look for all of our decor and stationery.

We are having wide ribbon criss crossing the table in our colours (rather than a runner), a goldfish bowl in the middle with aqua beads in and gerbera flower heads, a table name holder of some sort (which I might have coming out of the goldfish bowl), cutlery at each setting which will be wrapped in a napkin and tied up with co-ordinating ribbon then each setting will have either a daisy shaped cookie or choc lollipop (not decided which to have yet, I may do cookies for boys and lollies for girls) with a name tag attached to it as a place name and a scratchcard favour in a silver envelope. Then the table will also have 2/3 bottles of rose wine per table and each chair will have a white chair cover with a coloured sash.

The ribbons will look like this, but will all be one colour:

I haven't really thought about this.

We are getting married in a village chateau, with the reception in the cellars (http://www.swisscastles.ch/vaud/coppet/cobanquet_e.html).. Here are two photos of previous events:

Our invites are deep red with trees on them, and our initials carved into the tree. Any good ideas for decor? I'm not a pink girl, but the theme is very much "party time". I like trees also (have been looking at a tree made out of fairy lights for decor).

I had no idea what to do for centre pieces, and then my mum found some gorgeous crystal jewellery trees which are perfect - and with aqua ribbon, we are going to tie pictures of all the people on that table on them - will have my work cut out but just wanted something a bit different!

its a slight seaside theme so i have got white favour boxes, with 2 shell chocolates in them, then tying the box in the aqua ribbon with the name written on the gift tag on the box so they double up as name places.

my cousin had tall martini glasses which looked brilliant!

Melissa your venue looks amazing!!! i was watching four weddings and one of the brides used real branches and spray painted them in different styles- some colour and others gold and silver. It sounds tacky but actually looked really nice!

Glad you like the venue - H2B found it when asking one of his rugby team mates about locations!

La1510 - Thanks for the idea - I like that a lot actually. My mum especially would enjoy putting that together. It's likely to be 25C heat in the summer, and hence I'd need to find solid branches to stop the leaves wilting. Will have to test this in advance!

I also had a look at lanterns, like Mrs C has posted - I have large silver and red lanterns dotted around the living room and bedroom and think this might be an idea.

Also - I think this is a US site - my one of my mum's friends pointed me towards Etsy:

There are lots of really interesting ideas and things on here.

I was just thinking about our tables yesterday - we're going to have tall silver candelabra and lots of little candles in glasses dotted around. The usual crockery and linen but will be tying ribbon round the napkins. planning on having chair covers with organza bows too - probably in ivory

    This is our venue

Do you think that sounds enough? I want to keep it quite sleek but have been thinking about having a runner too? Idon't think we're going to be having flowers on the tables

BrideBrat - how are you finding making the lace covered candle holders? I saw them on a wedding blog and love them - are they very fiddly? x

Remember that there will be crockery, cutlery, Glasses, bottles, cameras, handbags! on the tables so try not to overload it too much with decoration. Less is more as they say & the simplest of Centrepeice & decor can look just as stunning as huge great big centrepieces.

    Nothing!

Apart from the table linen, cutlery, 2 x bottles of wine and the table holder / number.

As we're having a late ceremony, followed by an informal BBQ at 7pm, it was suggested to me not to worry about having Table Decs as they will only be on display for a couple of hours and as we really need to save money, this is one thing that I agreed to let go.

As much as I would have loved to have goldfish bowls with cala lillies or such like in them, I just couldn't justify the cost for 2 hrs display, and what would i have done with them afterwards? I'm happy to lose them if it means I can save a few pounds and spend the money elsewhere.

To begin with I was adamant that the tables needed something, but I've now warmed to the idea, and I don't think anyone will come away from the wedding saying something along the lines of "I can't believe she didn't put any table decs out". Our budget is too tight, we're paying for everything ourselves, so if it's a case of having wine or flowers on the table, unfortunately (or fortunately) the booze wins.

However, all of your ideas look fab, so I will just enjoy looking at your photos! Of course, if anyone has any ideas for some funky table name holders, feel free to let me know!

My ideas so far - we haven't bought anything yet but this is what I want anyway!!

Goldfish bowls filled half way up with water - then some white and aqua floating candles inside on a raised mirrored centerpiece stand (hidden underneath the tablecloth and provided by the hotel)

These aqua scatter crystals just scattered across the table

and then little tiffany lookalike boxes for the favours (not sure what to put in them yet!) oh and I will make childrens goody bags/party bags for all the children attending.

Table numbers will be these from hobbycraft which I will spray paint in our colour scheme and menus will be folded into the napkins

am also going to get paper mache letters from hobbycraft and spray paint them for our cake table either a mr and mrs or just married or love - just seen a few people have done it but with wooden ones and thought it looked really nice so thought id fake it with paper mache ones!
