What are you having on your tables?

SecretSquirrel123, 22 February, 2012 at 18:55 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi everyone,

What are you having on your tables at your sit down meal? I've started looking at all sorts of things - conversation starters, disposable cameras, bubbles, favours along with our centerpiece, placecards, menu etc. I dont want it to look too cramped but then I dont want it to look too boring either!

Thanks!

We'll probably just have our table centres, namecards, wine and possible favours. I did think about bubbles and cameras but these days everyone has digital cameras so dunno if there's much point have disposables and will people really want bubbles being blown when they're eating?

We are having our centerpieces, table names and holders, place settings, wine, water and maybe a menu. I recently went to a wedding where they had so much on the table it all felt like a big squash. I figure that our guests will talk without cards to help them and will all have digital cameras that we can eventually get the photos off of.

Other than crockery there will be the table centrepieces, table number and some bubble wands. Thats it. I don't like crowded tables, and everyone will probably be bringing digital cameras so in this day and age its a bit pointless having cameras on the table.

By the time all the glasses etc are on thee, I don't think it leaves loads of room onour tables, so we are having centrepeices in the middle, our favours (boxes containing edible treats), hopefully a flower in each folded napkin, wedding trivia box on each table and the name/place cards. Might also sneak some bubbles on there when OH isn't really aware of my wedding shopping.

    We will have:

centrepieces - which will consist of bowl/vase of flowers on a round mirror plate with 4 tea lights and scatter crystals

Scatter crystal maybe a bit further around the table

    Table name in a holder

    Place names and favours

    Champagne bottle bubbles

    Champagne bottle party popper

    Menus and Wine

And now when I see it all wrote down like this wonder whether it's too much and going to be too crowded Smiley atonished

We're just having the same as most everyone else - centrepieces, wine, plates & cutlery etc, favours, and table names. We're also having betting packs on the table... it's a regular thing in Ireland to place bets on the lengths of the speeches so order the wedding betting pack from Paddy Power Smiley smile I'm thinking about having conversation starters as we're planning to mix up our sides and thought it might be nice to have a 'get to know your neighbour' type thing.

We're having afternoon tea so our centrepieces are cake stands. Mostly the tables will be covered in food as it's a help yourself affair. We are having conversation starters though, mainly because they were really cheap. We're having a box of envelopes each with a blank cd in so guests can send us there photos from the day.

We are having our centrepieces, place card and favour at each setting. Then it will be wine, menu, table name card, and each glass will have a social stirrer in it and a white popper to pull when we walk into dining room (from the white Company sale, to cheap not to buy some)

We are only having 8 people per table so it won't feel to cramped.

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking that I'll lose the bubbles and perhaps the cameras... although my friend had some hilarious photos from her wedding when she had her disposable cameras developed. I really like the cd in an envelope idea though Smiley smile
