What are you naming your tables...?

GeordieBarbie, 17 November, 2009 at 14:14 Posted on Planning 0 29

Following on from Moonpig's Moya's dilemas, how about a thread to say what you are calling your tables names to see if we get some inspiration! ?

Places we've been on holiday

Hawaii (top table) - our first holiday together and we're he first said "I love you"

Not confirmed yet but possibly - South Africa, Bali, Sri Lanka, Las Vegas, Copenhagen, Barbados, San Francisco...

Well.....We're hoping to get married on 4th August 2012, which also happens to be National Mustard Day! So, seeing as my family live on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, (Coleman's for those who can't get the link!) we're thinking of having tables named after different mustards...or different things that are yellow....I thought we could give a prize to whoever works out the link.

.....hmm, maybe this need thinking through a bit more - it worked when I was rather tipsy a few weeks ago!

Oh, and we have roughly 13 tables, (of 8 to a table) but I can only think of four different mustards! lol

The pets names we've had together:

Ole, Busby, Rio, Wesley, Boo, Fudge, Wispa and Spike but then pets we've had when we were younger to make up the shortfall (!) Morgan, Pippa and Basil!

Ooh I like the yellow mustard idea - what's your colour theme again OLL?

We're probably going to name our tables after our favourite wines - Mud House, Cloudy Bay, Tinpot Hut, Malbec....

Another idea is to name them after our favourite comedians with quotes from them about love/ marriage underneath - Milligan, Cooper, McIntyre, Connolly...

Each of my tables has a different flower centre made of one type of flower and foliage taken from my bouqet and named accordingly.

So the 'Rose' table will be the top table and have a rose and foliage centre.

same with Hydrangeas, Stock, Lisianthus, Freesia (pity about the rubbish 'Stock' name, but it's such a pretty flower)

As we went to The witchery for our mini moon we decided to name the tables after the suites there, it took a while for people to guess!

We had 4 long tables so named them Gryfindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff ? Silly, but a little bit of fun for people who know how obsessed we can be about Harry...and under the name of each table, with a picture of the house crest, we included the relevent part of the sorting hats song...

Just copying and pasting my reply on moonpigs thread as it may be helpful to some others..... or not lol!

We have decided to have our tables names after the years we were born, the year we met, the years our children were born and the top table will be 2011 for the year of the wedding, we will also have corresponding pics to accompany the numbers.

Have to say though really like the Harry Potter idea lol!

It was lusher than lush! We had a completely different suite this time, we stayed in The Library and I thought it was better than the last suite (OH prefered the other one) but they look after you and it is sooooo decadent and they welcome you back like old friends - it spooked me a little as the lady helping with our bags knew when we stayed before and which suite - not that's customer service for you!

We've already booked for next August, we're going when the Tattoo is on... how fab to just have your windows open and listen to all that! Can't wait! You must go!

ETA: Sorry for crashing the thread!

My OH proposed when we were on holiday in Malcesine, Lake Garda so I was thinking of having the tables named after the towns around the Lake with Malcesine as the top table name.

Dragonforce (top table) / Metallica / Iron Maiden / Machine Head / HIM / Megadeth / Disturbed (H2B's nan to go on that table ?

Following the English-fayre theme, we're having jam jars on the table with flowers in and each jam jar will have one of these tags tied on it with ribbon or raffia or something:

So people will sit on the gingham, polka dot, floral, stripe, check etc table - we aren't having many tables so it should be ok! Also going to put a swatch of each fabric on the table plan to make it clear.

We hadn't decided yet but a lot of our ideas have been music or film related & the best 1 that I'd really like to do (although its gonna take a lot of thinking about) is to recreate famous album covers that we both like with us doing the posing! Or maybe with favourite films.

Spurs players. It was the compromise rather than having a whole Spurs themed wedding! I keep teasing my mum saying we're going to walk down the aisle to Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur!
