summer_sparkles, 21 June, 2009 at 20:33 Posted on Planning 0 15

I had quite a weddingy weekend. Got my Mum's dress, got my wedding lingerie and decided the "to Canape or not to Canape?" question and the drinks package etc.

What did you do with yours?

We had OH's parents down for the weekend and we got both their outfits.... it tells me I need to give up my job and become a personal shopper! Am kicking back with some vino too and relaxing as we have tomorrow off... good times ?

We made quite a major decision to change our wedding venue and date! We had already paid a deposit for the original venue, however they were being very restrictive and rude, and it kinda felt like I had to fit what I wanted into their mould iykwim?

So we have chosen a lovely country pub, which has given us free range to do the day however we feel. The venue has inspired us to look along the style of country fete, with bunting, wild flowers etc. Also we are able to plan the wedding for the Summer now which was what we wanted all along. So we have to choose either 31st July or 7th August 2010!

SummerSparkles, did you decide to do canapes? I am thinking this may be a cute idea, but not sure if it will be too much with a 3course sit down meal & hog roast in the evening?

Aww congrats on the new nephew Teehee! What's he called?

We are going for canapes in the end Danni, couldn't resist the mini hamburgers and toad in the holes. I'm assuming our guests are as greedy as me and will eat them before the wedding breakfast, I always gobble them down at weddings.

    What's your MIL wearing Beccy?

Had the day to myself on Sat as OH was out for the day. I decided to wait up for him Sat night although I'm now regretting that - didn't get to bed until 3am and now I'm exhausted!

Yesterday tried to have a lie in, then we had to go shopping for a few bits and pieces then over to visit my dad's grave. First father's day without him so felt a bit emotional yesterday.

But just over a week to go til my holiday and I can't wait!

I photographed a fantastic wedding on Saturday, it was so much fun and the b&g's guests were amazing, so friendly. I cried during the ceremony, and at the dad's speech, the groom's speech and the best man' speech! I'm such a softie at weddings.

Yesterday, I mostly ached ALL DAY from working so hard the day before. I took the kids to the park, and let them run themselves ragged.

Today, I have a day of editing before me. I can't wait to get started - just as soon as the children are in nursery.

Saturday - Went to Leeds for a bit of retail therapy

Saturday Night - Went to see a Niel Diamond tribute act, not through choice though it was h2b's Grandma's birthday so it was a family thing.

Sunday - Went round to my mum & Dad's had a bbq, got the paddling pool out for the kids (my little boy & my 2 nephews) & just chilled out in the garden until my son fell over & landed face 1st on a huuuuuugh plant pot. His poor little face is a bit of a mess ☹️

    My weekend started on Friday.

To start with, we got our wedding rings on Thurs, but Iain's turned out to be too big, so we had to go to Camberley to get his finger measured. Turns out he's a size smaller than we thought, so that's ok. The ring can be resized. Also on Thurs, his old Mondeo had developed another fault so that went into the garage.

Friday, he picked the car up, but by the time it got home, it had "gone bang!" Basically, for those who know about cars, the cylinder head gasket had blown, so it would have cost too much to repair. So car will be heading for the great scrap heap in the sky!

Saturday morning, we went out and bought a new car. (Not new new obviously!) So he's picking that up on Wednesday. Should be nice. It's another Ford Mondeo but it's only under 3 years old, so it's like a space ship to us!

Saturday afternoon we went to Dorset to see Iain's parents. I ended up barbequeing! Which is mad as I'm a veggie! Iain's mum kept asking if the meat was done, and I was like "I have no idea!"

Sun morning, we went for two long walks - one with dog, one without. Second walk was a bit more intrepid than we planned. Iain's dad had heart surgery about a year and a half ago, and although he's great now, he's not quite as fit as he was. Fortunately we took it slowly and he was fine!

Then Sunday afternoon, Iain's sister turned up with two girls and a large dog. Chaos ensued! Nice big Sunday tea/roast though which was nice.

Then we tried to sort out their computer which took ages. Ended up leaving late and didn't get back until half nine. Which doesn't sound late, but I had to get up and come to work at 6 this morning!

So I'm knackered, but there's peanut butter M&Ms here, so I'm on a massive sugar rush!

    Phew!

I had a lovely weekend - although it sort of started on friday - had my 1st dress fitting and then went shopping with my mate in the evening for 80's accessories for my hen do this weekend!

Saturday - was up early to go to the climbing wall and then I did a bit of shopping in Brixton and then out for drinks in Soho with OH's friends

Sunday - bliss, cleaned + tidied flat, lazed around reading my book, had make up trial and then had a bath + watched will & grace in my pjs. Perfect!

Saturday - busy day, went to venue with our tog to hunt out places to get wedding pics taken, drove to my parents house - sorted out their fridge before they came back from their hols, saw my goddaughter, went shopping with my sister, did a bit of food shopping for my parents, went to pub with school friends.

sunday - sat in front of computer procrastinating over essay. instead of doing healthcare related research, i did flowers and sleb gossip related research....

and now back at work feeling sorry for myself - i had a filling this morning, and now it has de-numbed, my mouth is hurting! but at least the swelling has gone down - i looked like leslie ash for a while there....

Ah, how I wish it was still the weekend - or at least next weekend already.

Saturday - went for dress fitting after alterations and it is perfect! Perfect length and had to be taken in a tiny wee bit more which is all good. If I lose anymore weight though it will be too big but compared to last time when I had major wobbles, I felt much better about it all.

Then spent the rest of Saturday rushing about round town trying to find flowergirl shoes (which eventually did do) and spent a lot on hair extensions (more to look like i have more hair rather than for length) After a long day, proceeded to get very drunk at a friends bbq.

Sunday - woke up feeling extremely delicate and had to go to church for the final reading of our banns. Then visited all the rentals and spent evening making order of services which am pleased to say are FINALLY completed.

Worked an early shift on saturday, 7 til 5, urgh!

Sunday was better, took a day's leave and went to a massive family picnic with the in-laws, it was a memorial for a close friend of the family that died last year. Was a good day, and I won the egg and spoon race!
