What did you get up to this weekend?

Mrs Bass, 4 August, 2014 at 13:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

Ive been a bit AWOL recently so i thought Id start a thread to get us all chatting!

it was my BFF's hen night saturday which was brilliant fun, I now have a bruise on the top of my foot, scratches on the inside of my arms from my glitter covered clutch bag a blister on my little toe (grosss!!) and aching thighs from twisting too much!

Im too old for this! ha ha!

so what did you get up to, was it a busy one or a quiet one, any injuries resulting from your weekend activites?!

It was a fairly quiet one for us.

On Saturday I took my mountain of ironing out onto the patio and got it all done while OH worked on the garden. When it started to rain in the afternoon we retreated inside and basically sat on our backsides watching TV - which is unusual for us.

On Sunday we took our dog for a lovely walk along the Thames and then spent the afternoon lounging around on the patio - bliss!

Off to the pub with friends for dinner and a few drinks tonight which will be nice.

We had a birthday party on Saturday for my daughter which then rolled into another one on Sunday (her actual birthday). I am absolutely shattered today and cannot wait to go to bed!!

    Brilliant weekend!

Pizza Express and wine with friends on Saturday, pub with H's family on Saturday day and evening then a lovely walk with them all on Sunday.

Buster was an absolute star with the kids - I was worried he'd be too lively for Joe who's only just started walking but he seemed to know to be calm around him. Kept just rolling over for the kids to tickle his belly. ❤️

Saturday was really quiet. OH was golfing and DD was twirling so I watched some of the commonwealth games and mooched!!

Sunday, I had my second make up trial which was fabulous!! I now have the awkward task of letting the pro MUA know she isn't required. I also took the kids to mums for dinner and had a very awkward conversation with my dad about whether he should ring his brother to ask why he hadnt rsvp'd.

The result? Dad got annoyed, stated said brother won't come anyway so there's no point phoning him. Mum and I shut up ?

On Saturday day I didn't do anything much, just did some updating to my mp3 player and watched TV. In the evening H2B was DJing at a bar/club I've never been to before so I went with him. They have a staff area behind the DJ booth with big sofas and drinks and snacks, it was amazing. I was quite happy just drinking the iced water til the wife of the couple who run it (who are Dutch, and super nice) hustled me in and poured me a large vodka and energy drink! (She also screamed and hugged me when I mentioned in passing that we're getting married soon.) So I was slightly tipsy by the end of it. There was a tattoo convention on in Manchester and there was a big group in from a barber's shop in Exeter who were exhibiting there, they put in lots of requests and were really enthusiastic. It made my H2B very happy to see people dancing and enjoying his set. So yeah, that was cool.

On Sunday I just recovered from Saturday night Smiley smile I had a brief trip out of the shop but I was so tired I couldn't focus on anything (only needed two things from Tesco and forgot one of them). H2B was out most of the day so I just watched TV. And we got a takeaway curry in the evening.

    Mmm busy-ish for us,

pizzas and cider from the farm shop with friends Friday night, then OH's brother and our 4 year old niece came down late Friday night. Saturday we went to a butterfly farm for her and I managed to walk around without too much flailing about if something flew near me, and then ended up babysitting while OH and his bro went to the pub so OH could ask him to be best man. She ended up wanting her daddy so I ended up lying in bed with her til she fell asleep but inevitably fell asleep myself. Sunday we had a 5 hour round trip to my nephews first birthday party, lovely to see him as we dont get to very often. I also managed to save two mice from our pusscat who this weekend has brought us 3 live ones - not sure why shes started treating us to this so often. but chasing one around for an hour at 2am left us both a bit knackered, so it was an early night last night. And we're pub quizzing tonight.

Pretty good one for me. Had a night out in town with my bestie and some others for her friend's birthday. Got a good level of drunk and saw 2 members of boyband 5ive perform. Had a brilliant night dancing and drinking and generally having fun!

Got home Sunday morning at 4am, and woke up wide awake at 08:30! Then went on a bike ride with Mr J9 and my parents. Me and mum were knackered though and turned back part of the way while they carried on to the pub so we got in the car and met them there. Had a lovely BBQ lunch there.

And I know it's not the weekend anymore but have actually had a good day so far, which is a big surprise considering it's Monday! Our new sofas have arrived so hubby sent me photos. They look great.

AND my oldest friend, who was a BM at my wedding, has asked me to be her BM. Very excited!

AND (!!) going for a BBQ after work (only downside is it's at OH's parents' house!)

On saturday I worked (so did OH).

On sunday we drove to Dorchester. Then cycled to Weymouth. I did want to cycle down to Portland but it was 1.30pm by the time we made it to Weymouth and OH didn't want to stay out too late. Plus I didn't realise how hilly it was Smiley sad I had to walk up a big hill on the way back, though we were rewarded with over a mile of wizzy downhill after it. Then near the car (pushing our bikes) I was stepping in the crunchy brown leaves, only to slip on a pile of vomit that someone had covered up! We got an ice-cream then headed home. I loved it and there were no injuries for either of us.

We had a weddingy weekend. On saturday afternoon some of my friends came round to make sugar flowers for the main cake/cupcakes. I had planned tea and cakes but they all arrived armed with a bottle of wine each so much hilarity ensued. Thank goodness we managed to make lots of flowers before the alcohol kicked in.

On Sunday OH and I threaded the cranes: they've been hanging over me for weeks as i'd only done two strings and there were still 38 to go. We have another 10 to do tonight and the curtain backdrop will be completed at last.

Than last night when i was completely weddinged out OH packed the kids off to bed, poured me a glass of red and we watched a film together on the sofa.

    Best weekend for ages!

Friday night was chilled out, we were originally going to drive an hour and a half to look at a wedding venue, but found the right place a few days before so we cancelled. I was quite glad to have a quiet evening in, and Mr P did all the cooking which made a nice change!

On Saturday we drove over to my auntie K's house just outside London for a family BBQ - it was fab to see lots of my family, and nice to meet some of my auntie's partner J's family too. We had lots of questions about our wedding, we've just set a date and picked a venue, lots of people wanted to know about it all. I always get tasked with bringing cakes and puddings, and J had put in a request for a replica of a Sara Lee Pecan Danish, so I made some pecan cinnamon buns the day before - that was a labour of love, they took 3 hours! The BBQ food and puds were yummy and the drinks flowed, I did drink quite a lot but it was over 11 hours so not too bad - we arrived at 4, and finally went to bed at 3am... A few of us were camping over, and J lit a fire at about 9pm and got his guitar out, we sat and sang all kinds of stuff for hours, it was awesome! ?

Sunday was spent packing up from the night before, eating as much scrambled eggs, BBQed sausages and bacon as is humanly possible and then driving back home, before flopping on the sofa and going to bed at 9.30! I think I'd had 4 hours' sleep, but Mr P only got about 2, so we had a bit of a lie-in this morning ?

I had a really lovely weekend. Friday marked our '1 year to go' so we celebrated by spending the day at Groombridge Place then going out for Tapas and wine in the evening. It was really lovely as we don't very often go on proper dates.

Saturday I worked, but was given a pay rise so it balanced out ok! In the evening we went to the gym and swimming. OH is trying to teach me to swim, rather unsuccessfully so far.

Sunday OH went to the international Mini meet and left me at home to do housework. We went to Bluewater to get me an outfit for our pre wedding shoot on the 10th and then OH took me to dinner to celebrate the aforementioned pay rise.

All in all a pretty good weekend, if slightly marred by today being my first proper day back a work in 2 weeks!
