What did you put on your info sheets???

Gillsy, 2 November, 2009 at 14:35 Posted on Planning 0 23

What did you put on your info sheets???? I'm trying to keep mine simple. What I have is:

The venue details - name, address, telephone number and website address also that limited accomodation is available through them direct

Asking people to advise of any dietary requirements

Asking the adults to come along and enjoy themselves without the kids

The RSVP date

The address for our website that has every detail of our day from the Hen/Stag nights to the menu on the day.

Is there anything else that really should be on the info sheet - don't want it to end up like a book??? I'm hoping that most guests will just use the website although I understand not everybody will do that.

Sounds like you've got all the main things, just a few suggestions but they may not be relevant:

    Brief directions?

Gift list info (if you're having one)?

    Is confetti allowed?

Thanks Jen. You're right, I might put a little bit on to say where the hotel is located (its on a main road).

Gift list - we had a discussion about this last night about how we don't want gifts but I know that people will want to buy them anyway - not sure what we will do but either ask for contributions to the honeymoon or something like Debenhams vouchers. Not going to put this on the info sheets though.

confetti - hadn't thought of that.

    Thanks again x

    Hi Gillsy,

Not sure if this is applicable to you but we're havin a lot of guests over from Ireland for ours so are considering giving names of nearby hotels that suit every price range, they are also getting maps of Edinburgh and little pocket tourist guides. I know you more than likely wont need these things but i thought I'd pop it in anyway.

Also, can I ask you how you are wording the bit about no kids? It's something I am considering but am unsure how to be tactful about it.

    xo

Thanks m2h - I'm a naturally organised person in life and just carried it through to the WP. Some would say too organised but I think what is in my mind is that I want at least a few weeks off in December to concentrate on XMas and then don't want to panic come New Year.

Nayso - there is only our hotel, one in a town nearby then then next is a Travel Lodge which is 18 miles away. we've put these details onto the website though.

I can't remember my exact wording about the no kids thing but I found it difficult to put together too. It was something along the lines of "we want the adults to come along, let their hair down and enjoy our day as much as possible. Due to this we would be happy if you could leave the kiddies at home". I can't get onto my website at work so will check that and let you know the correct wording when I get home.

    Let me see I had...

    1) Full address including post code for those with satnav

    2) Brief tongue in cheek directions for those who haven't moved with the times

    3) Confetti allowed, guest list available on request

    4) Accommodation details, alternative travel advice, rough pricing on taxis

    5) Details of my parents 'open house' the next day

Taxi phone numbers? Particularly important where I live as there's a company that totally fleece you and they have the easy phone number, company name begins with A and they're parked everywhere. Want my guests to get a good deal Smiley laugh

Just remember that not everyone will have internet access so older relatives etc might miss out on accommodation if you don't also have those details on your printed sheet.

As far as not inviting children I'd just say something like 'unfortunately due to restrictions on numbers we are unable to invite children but hope you will still be able to attend' ... as a parent I'm not too keen on the 'let your hair down' line - I quite enjoy taking my kids to weddings! ?

I made mine in Publisher and used the card design - they actually printed different to what I expected but i'm really chuffed with them as they are about the same size as my invitations now. All 4 sides of the "booklet" are printed on one side of A4 and you fold them in half (A5) and the half again (A6).

    Front page:

Our initials (to match the stationery), Date and Venue

    Inside pages:

Hotel Accommodation - brief description - map showing pins of all the hotels i've listed and the venue, then the details of some nearby hotels (name, address, price, contact numbers), Venue address and details of the water taxis

    Back page:

General Information - RSVP date, Confetti (not allowed), Taxis (order them - no rank nearby), Dietary requirements (tell us on your RSVP), Arrival time, Tours of the venue (it's a tourist attraction), our website details (weddingpath) and our contact details (home address, emails, telephone numbers)

OMG - a bit more complicated than first thought. I'll need to spend a bit more time on this I think. I've got to say part of me wonders whether I should bother at all - I've never been to a wedding thats had an info sheet before ?

    Thanks girls.

I enjoyed designing mine - but then I didn't do my own invites... ?

I've been to weddings that had them. I think they're helpful if your guests need to travel and need nearby hotels, etc.

Invite should be short and give name and address and post code of church and venue. The rsvp date is important. We had a website and in that we had details about dietary requirements, taxi numbers, accommodation lists and numbers, maps , what we were doing the next day (open party) Those that did not have internet access we printed the details off andf sent them with the invite

no kids...we just copied the words of the venue ie it is not suitable for children due to deep lakes, bridges or whatever you can come up with. From experience though you need to make it clear from the start that there will be no children..as a few will be asking.

Gifts...we said we did not want any but got vouchers for debenhams next and John Lewis .Also some nice crystal glasses. Just get your chief bridesmaid to drop a few hints to yours friends otherwise you may get a few picture frames!!A lot of people now say put some money towards the honeymoon..I could not do that though!!

Thank you everybody - v helpful as always.

I've worked on this a bit this morning - its now on an A4 sheet which is about twice as big as I wanted it to be but hey hoo. Heres what I've got.....

Venue details - full address incl postcode, telephone number, website address

Map & Directions to the Hotel

Accommodation Details for the hotel and nearby including phone numbers and asking people to book direct

    Local taxi numbers

    Brief Public transport information

info regarding the buses we will be running to take guests home

Ask people to advise of any dietry requirements with their RSVP

put the bit about the numbers not allowing children

    the RSVP date

    Our website address

Still considering whether to put contact details and guest list details.

? I hadn't even thought of an info sheet.

Like you Gillsy, I've never been to a wedding that's had one, so I don't think Im going to bother. I've got the venue address on the invitations and I've asked for dietry requirements on the RSVP cards, I wasn't going to bother with anything else!

Missdeedee - I'm like you, still not 100% sure whether I'll bother with them or not but TBH, now that I've done them today they ARE quite informative for the guests. Although the idea of doing the website was so I didn't have to do all this lol. At least today has been quiet at work.

will show OH tonight and we'll decide whether we are going to bother sending them or not.

We did one for our wedding, but I've also collected versions from friends weddings and put them online to share here: http://www.instantforever.com/guest_information_sheet.html

    Hope that helps.

So I spent quite a bit of time yesterday putting together the info sheets and showed OH last night and he said we don't need to bother with them aaaarrrrrggghhhh!!!!! He said he'd never seem them before I should have gone to all that trouble.

Now, on Sunday night I said to him that I didn't know whether to do the info sheets or not because all the info is going to be on our website and at the time he said that not everybody has the internet and it was unfair of me to do that (which is true).

Now I don't know what to do - I've got the info sheets all done now so do I just put them in anyway?

If I don't put them in where do I put the info about the kids and dietry requirements as there isn't really any more room on the invitation to put this info?

Charlie - glad you liked the gettingmarried website and you are doing one of your own

Just bung em in ... no biggie. I've had invites with and invites without and tbh it is helpful to have a bit more information, and like I said earlier not everyone has internet access ?
