What did you want as a child for Christmas but never got?

Erin8, 23 December, 2014 at 22:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 25

The only thing that sticks in my mind is a Mr Frosty. Years later my then boyfriend told me he got one. He then said it was crap which made me feel better!

Mine was Mr Frosty too! Mum has since told me that it was because there were lots of reports of them being dangerous. I just thought Father Christmas was mean at the time!

I always wanted one of those cadburys chocolate money box things where you put in 10p and got a chocolate. I finally got one from H last year after I moaned about never having had one lol

Mr Frosty! I finally got one when I was about 17 after much nagging and was heartcrushingly disappointed. It just wasn't like I had dreamed of.

A fisher price easy bake oven. Actually that's a lie, I did get it once but it broke on Christmas morning & I never saw it again. It must have been returned. It was the gift that got away! ?

I always wanted a Mr Frosty! Glad to hear they're a bit crap though!

I had a jewellery making kit and I was never allowed to use it! My parents thought it'd be too messy!

Another 80's child here with Mr Frosty!

When I was very little I wanted Teddy Ruxpin (the one you put the cassette in). Santa did not oblige!

Mine was a Mr Frosty too! Maybe our parents somehow knew that they were shite.

My sister finally bought me one for my 30th birthday and I attempted to crush some ice for a cocktail - after about 10 minutes I gave up as it was far too much effort :-(

A Barbie. Looking back i have no idea why i wanted one. I also have no idea why my mum was so strongly opposed to me having one.......the closest i ever got was a second hand (and slightly mutilated) Sindy after my cousins had discarded her. I tried to love her, but i couldn't - she just wasn't Barbie!

I had a mr frosty and a Cadburys thing too. How jealous are you lot right now??!!

I always wanted a Dream Phone but my mum refused to let me have anything that involved liking boys, such as that and things like bliss magazines, so I went without :'-(.

Mr. Frosty here too. My brother got one from a jumble sale at his primary school (10p?) and it had no flavour sachets, so basically just did ice. It was rubbish.

I had an a la carte kitchen, but was crushed she I saw the TV advent and the girl had beans and sausage roll on hers. All I had was dried pasta and dried lentils/peas. I thought mime was broken!

My sister had one of those - a Talkboy! It was rubbish though, the deep voice didn't make your voice go *that* much deeper.

I'm another one who wanted a Mr Frosty. When I was 8 or 9 I wanted a Commodore 64 so I could play Paperboy but my parents came through for us two years later with the Amiga 600!

I always always always wanted a trumpet and a batman suit. I don't know why, I just did! I think I had mentioned it in a drunken conversation at some point last year, and you'll never guess what I got for my birthday this year from my OH!

I proudly paraded around my living room in my batman suit, drinking bubbly and attempting to play the trumpet Smiley smile Happy camper!

I can't remember what they were called but I also wanted those toy people that you could make their hair grow out of play-doh.

That was the Play doh mop top hair shop. I had one of those ? but it wasn't that good as the "hair" got stuck in the scissors so you couldn't cut it!

I think I too wanted a Mr Frosty. Also a Scaelectrix (sp?) - I got a cheap knock-off thing instead. I also found out relatively recently that my Girls' World was a cheap copy. My parents were not well off!

My brothers (twins) each had a Mr Frosty, they were pants, basically you cranked the thing for 10 minutes to get a shot glass sized cup of crushed ice!

I wanted at various stages a red and yellow ride in car, a Girls World and a badge maker, a friend had a badge maker and it was the best thing ever but I was never allowed to use it because she was saving all the bits. bet she never even used them all! I also never got a chocolate machine but don't think I was that bothered about it!
