What did you want to be?

FutureBright, 11 September, 2012 at 15:53 Posted on Planning 0 55

I just thought this would be a bit of fun.

Alot of people have dreams when they are young about what they want to be when they grow up. It would be great to see how many people actually got to follow theirs..

I wanted to be a PE teacher but I work at WHSmith lol, although I do have a Sports Degree and my OH is a medic. If I didn't go the route I did then I wouldn't have met him so I am happy.

This thread might flop but just a thought.

It might make people depressed, lol ! When I was little I wanted to be an archaeologist or a concert pianist. I now work in Retail Management. I'm off to take a short walk off a long pier now....

I wanted to be my sister.. it didn't work out.

I also wanted to be a teacher like my mom, which is a half-realised dream. I worked as a teacher in Japan for a couple years, and now I'm a museum educator.

I wanted to be a singer - given that I can't carry a tune, slighly unrealistic! haha!

I now work in accounts for Cambridge Uni.

First of all I wanted to be a fairy....then a princess....then things got more realistic and I wanted to be a vet, then a doctor, then a barmaid (I did this), then a forensic scientist. I'm now a solicitor....go figure!

    Is that for me?

I meant that the saying is a long walk on a short pier, not the other way round, so you run out of pier. If you take a short walk on a long pier, you can just turn around and go home. It does look a bit insensitive though, sorry.

To be fair, if you were an expert quantum physicist, somehow able to manipulate quantum law to your own ends, a short walk off a long pier would see you land in the water as frequently as a long walk off a short pier.

Providing that nobody was around to observe you, of course.

When I was 3 I wanted to be a bellringer. By the time I was 5 or 6 my ambitions had changed and I wanted to be a deep sea fisherwoman! I'm now a paramedic LOL!

I wanted to be a Make-up artist. Did it for a while and it wasn't for me!! i am now a guidance and welfare advisor at a local college. Make-up skills will come in handy when it comes to the wedding day! (it was only a matter of time before someone related it back to weddings) ?

I wanted to be an author, an Olympic swimmer and a ballerina when I was little. Decided I wanted to be a doctor when I was about 11, no real regrets so far.

Brace yourselves...I have wanted to be: a nurse, a police officer, a graphic designer, a detective, a vet, a neuropsychologist, a forensic scientist and an educational psychologist. Now I'm a teacher but quite fancy looking into Occupational Therapy...

I wanted to be a chef and work in one of London's top hotels (The Ritz/The Savoy/The Dorchester)- I left school at 16 and worked towards that dream for 8 years before deciding I enjoy cooking more as a hobby not as a career so went to uni to retrain... so now I'm getting married at one of London's top hotels instead.

I'm going to chase my physio dream when married and paid off my car, do some courses while on maternity leave as by then it will be time for kids... I'll do it one day.
