What did you want to be?

FutureBright, 11 September, 2012 at 15:53

I just thought this would be a bit of fun. Alot of people have dreams when they are young about what they want to be when they grow up. It would be great to see how many people actually got to follow theirs.. I wanted to be a PE teacher but I work at WHSmith lol, although I do have a Sports Degree...

I wanted to be a PE teacher but I work at WHSmith lol, although I do have a Sports Degree and my OH is a medic. If I didn't go the route I did then I wouldn't have met him so I am happy.

This thread might flop but just a thought.

I fancied being an author like Angela carter but as I was lazy I never tried. Tbh I've never had a dream to be anything else. I am a teacher because it more interesting and rewarding than anything else I could do/ had done.

    It's a somewhat nonsensical mish-mash of several quantum theories/observations:

    1. Electrons can be in two places at once (see: double-slit experiments).

    2. Solid objects can pass through solid barriers, with no change to their own or the barrier's structure (see: quantum tunnelling).

    3. Observing one of a set of possible outcomes removes the probability of other outcomes happening (see: Schrodinger's cat)

    4. Selena occupies parallel universes where she either falls in the water or turns back for home (see: Many Worlds Interpretation).

You know what...I think I really do occupy a parallel universe. Perhaps it's just as well I didn't become an archaeologist after all.

    Footlong can I adopt you?

The first thing I remember wanting to be was a My Little Pony. When I realised that wasn't possible, I moved onto Spiderman. Then a nurse, like my mummy Smiley smile, but then she told me about all the poo and I changed my mind and decided I wanted to work with kids. Then decided I wanted to be a mechanic and loved it, but when I was told by colleges that I would have to do a years intensive theory course to 'catch up' to the boys (!!!) I changed my mind as I was already fed up with school. Was then forced (asked nicely by my mummy and didn't want to disappoint her) to do A-levels, and decided I wanted to be a forensic scientist/pathologist. Found Chemistry too hard to get better than a D and got so bored with Biology and so distracted with more fun outside school stuff, that I only got a C in that. Thought about using my Psychology A-level to become some kind of profiler type thing, then I needed some pennies so got a job working in a bookies, never went to uni and now I'm a stupid bus driver. Where's that long pier??

I also wanted to be an air hostess but was informed by someone that I may be alittle too short to do the job (5ft1). Then I wanted to be a Midwife, ended up doing Nursing and just started my 3rd year at uni... Not sure I will be able to get a job once I leave. Will probs go on to do more courses...

Looks like i will never leave education...

I wanted to be a barrister from age 14. Circumstances resulted in a 2:2 law degree bye bye dreams.

I am a legal aid solicitor and I wouldn't change it as I do most of my own court work and it means I can see the case from start to finish.

First of all I wanted to be a pop star, then I wanted to be a TV presenter, then I wanted to be a zoologist, then I wanted to build movie sets and now I'm an event manager!

Quite happy as my job is really fast paced and I still get to be creative!

Ooh Eclair, I'm an OT and love it, feel free to ask if you want to know anything.

When I was a child I wanted to be an author, until I realised I had no writing talent. When I was at uni I wanted to be a clinical psychologist until I realised my heart wasn't really in it, and now I'm an occupational therapist.
