What did you/ will you give OH on Wedding day?

JoHawes, 13 May, 2012 at 18:54 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi I am after some inspiration for little but personal gifts for OH on our wedding day. I want to give him a few little gifts rather than one expensive one. Maybe make something for him although I am not arty/ crafty or very patient! I do like to write so a poem or letter would be an idea just not sure what to do with it ? :-S anyway I am just after some ideas really and wondered what you did/ have planned for your OH's on your big day.

    My OH is getting ME.

lol, we are paying for the wedding ourselves, so not giving little gifts. Why not get something personalised with your names on? Like a tankard, or get yourself his and hers dressing gowns Smiley tongue xx

I heard a brilliant idea the other day - you buy each other a 'wedding perfume'. Obviously it's a very personal choice so not sure how much control there is/could be but it's a fab gift and it's something that if you smell it years later it will bring back memories of your special day Smiley smile

I've brought a personalised scrap book type thing from eBay & have been sneakily writing down dates we booked/brought things. Then I've got a photo of the venue, the first advert we saw for the photographer etc.. And sticking them in and writing the date and stupid/funny/memorable Comments from when we booked them. I'm not creative at all but it's the thought that counts! I've also got us mr and mrs key rings.

A watch, a DVD of photos of us growing up, then us together, to our first dance song and a bottle of champagne.

I have bought cufflinks with old fashioned trains on (he loves trains), socks with 'Groom' on, a designer top he has really wanted for ages, chocolate and a card. I need something else but can't really think of what. (possibly his wedding aftershave if not get it before then).

I am getting my OH his team's football shirt, with a personal message (something he always says when he is having a good day) on the back with our wedding date. x

The honeymoon was my main wedding gift to him Smiley smile

But I won an FYEO boudoir shoot with a book of 10 pictures, so he'll be getting that on the day!

I have bought him a journal, I will also put some haribo's (his favourite sweets) and I am deciding whether to get him a watch he was eyeing up but think he will do his nut if I do as it wasn't cheap but I think he deserves it. Still unsure whether too.

I have bought a new aftershave for him, a glass tankard engraved (he asked for this?!), a keying saying 'the bloody keys' as he is always losing his house key and blaming me! A cufflinks box as he drives me mad leaving them everywhere and rattling them about in a glass every morning at the crack of dawn! I'll get him some sweets too for the morning as he loves them. Oh and I will probably write a mildly mushy letter as I'm rubbish at saying nice things face to face!

I'm putting a groom box together for mine for the morning of the wedding. In it I'll put a photobook album from our engagement shoot, the photos from the boudoir shoot I did, some groom socks, a card, OH so cherished journal and some of his favourite brandy in an engraved hipflask.

I keep thinking of different things to put in it so no doubt I'll think of more stuff!

I gave my H a Gucci money clip and the brown leather matched the colour of his suit.

We are also paying for the wedding ourselves so didnt want to go overboard with giving gifts.

But I wanted to surprise him on the morning so have ordered some personalised map cufflinks to wear on the day and will write a heart felt card too.

I am not expecting anything from him.

Especially since we just came back from a little trip for our anniversary and he surprised me with some gorgeous diamond earrings for me to wear on the day (which i am now wearing, as they are too good to sit in a box lol !)

I think I may have gone a bit overboard but OH is always 'moaning' that I never treat him which is true unless a special occasion whereas he treats me loads just because!

So...I'm having a boudoir shoot done which I will put all the images into a nice photobook for him.

And then I'm doing a quirky set of gifts

Getting him a nice designer watch....so he's not late

A pair of groom socks....so he doesn't get cold feet

A miniature alcoholic drink....to steady his nerves

A keyring engraved with the date and a personal message....so he never forgets our anniversary

A commemorative newspaper front page with 'the story of our wedding'

And either 'How to be a good husband book' or a 'marriage survival kit' not sure which yet! WDYT?

Cufflinks with the locations of our ceremony and honeymoon (arrived today - yayy!)

A leather and silver bracelet with the co-ordinates of the ceremony location (need to order when I next get paid!)

I've emailed the rugby team he supports to see if they will send a card, or sign one if I send one in to them.

Finally, I do have a "guide to your marriage" which is very funny, but was given to me for my first wedding 10yrs ago. I have yet to decide if it's bad taste to let OH open it on the morning of our wedding.
