What do brides do after they're married and have to give up wedding planning???

WhiteRose84, 30 March, 2011 at 09:56 Posted on Planning 0 26

Some days I can go without thinking 'wedding-y thoughts' (even though I always check Hitched to see what all you lovely hitchers are doin....) but then some days, I can think of nothing else but wedding stuff.

What will we all do when we're Mr/Mrs? I'm gonna hav to find a hobby 'cos I'm gonna have LOADS of free time lol!!! xxx

I am going to be distraught! To help with the loss, my plans are...

    1. Get a new job
    2. Decorate our new house
    3. Try for a baby
    4. Plan our 2nd honeymoon and Cruise holiday
    5. Perhaps plan a suprise party for my Mom's 50th

    Same here.

My mums birthday is a few months after the wedding, so will keep me busy. I'm thinking of booking her a cruise too, which will take a fair bit or organising.

My OH also wants to try for another baby (which seems mad considering i'm still cooking this one)

TBH, I think i'll be so busy with our 4 kids, I won't have time to miss wedding planning. Will most likely be glad it's over.

I honestly don't know! I've got a friend's wedding a few months after mine so hopefully I'll help her with any final bits and bobs that need doing but after that...?

    Mini NBs I guess...

I'm doing a professional Diploma that I need to do some work on, and would also like to change jobs.

I'm also going to rekindle my interest in dressmaking.

    And have a rest!

Everyone sounds pretty busy after their big day!

When I asked OH, he said I wouldn't have time for any hobbies, I'll be too busy doin 'wifey' chores, like washing, cooking, ironing etc... cheeky sod! LOL - I already do that anyway! ?

I will probably just sit back, relax and take in the fact that im now a wife!

OH wants to try for a baby after the wedding but im a bit worried about money, although he keeps telling me we're putting £500 a month away for the wedding so we'll have cash to spare.

I'd really like us to get ontop of our financial debt, maybe get a loan to pay them off and have one amount going out every month not a bit here and a bit there!

I'm also looking at doing a photography course just to improve on my hobby really

We will carry on as we were before the planning took over our free time.

Working hard at our respective businesses and getting our secret one off the ground, eeek!

    Eating out.

    Drinking gin.

    Going to gigs and sport.

Spending time with friends and family.

    Planning holidays.

Dealing with the dull stream of finding tenants/repairing the damage they cause etc.

As much fun as the planning has been, I'm looking forward to just spending time with my husband without any time or financial pressures. Bliss!

I'm pretty similar to most of you!

Going to start on baby number 2 straight away!

Re-decorate spare room for my 2 year old to move into to make space for a new baby in the nursery!!!

Got some projects on in work so will transfer my skills to that!!!

We may try for baby number one.... although it's more OH than me. I'm worried that I'm too young/not maternal enough/won't be good at being mum/too selfish-ie want more holidays etc /can't afford!! xxx

Am buggared after the wedding - ive got no hobbies and no plans for anything...have to look after my son, but he will be 10yr and this is what i do day to day so that will be nothing new, i only work part time so that wont fill in much for me...i am on a exercise kick at the moment so really will just have to step it up a gear and continue with that!

I'm still a little way off from our wedding so the planning hasn't taken over too much of my life (other than hours spent on my shoes, flowers etc) but as it gets closer I suppose I'll be busier with it.

I think I'll just go back to enjoying evenings on the sofa watching TV with OH, going to the driving range to be rubbish at golf but have fun, go for drives in my Mini, go for days out with my husband, gardening if I can be bothered, and we'll be able to afford to go on holidays again ?

Not having any kids so I plan a long and happy marriage full of dinners out, lazy weekend mornings and basically just enjoying being married

I totally agree with CB. My work is so stressful that coupled with wedding planning I'm nearly on the edge!
We've also moved house recently but done nothing too it as we've been paying for a wedding.
Will love spending time with hubby like we used to do, going out for meals and just enjoying spending our money on us rather than a wedding haha!
I certainly won't be swapping it for babies Smiley winking

I really want to get back into cooking - I really enjoy it but just haven't had time recently. And we've been given loads of lovely Le Creuset items as wedding presents so want to make good use of them. OH will be delighted - he's a chef but never does any cooking at home!

    Celebrate! lol

I didn't find wedding planning took up much time but then I didn't have spare time as I work full time and have the business. Afterwards I missed the wedding itself knowing the day had been and gone but I didn't miss wedding planning. I loved not having the wedding on my mind most days.

We're looking forward to spending our free time during the summer sitting on the beach, going for bike rides & having bbq's. We need to finish decorating the house aswell. OH is looking for a new job at the moment so we'll see what comes from that.

We haven't really been totally obsessed with wedding stuff, so when it's all over we probably won't feel devestated. I'll miss some of the more fun aspects of planning but we both have hobbies which we continue with during the planning.

After our wedding, I'm hoping to have a good long think about my job and see if I can find something else. OH wants to move away to somewhere new so that will occupy us!
