Just sign up, you don't have to use it afterwards.

£400 isn't a bad price for an evening of a live band though.

Sadly your situation isn't that unique - I don't think most people realise how expensive weddings actually are to put on until you actually start planning one yourself! We're in the "organise it and pay for it all ourselves" boat too and if we had £30,000 to spend we probably could - but we're trying to do it on less than 10k.

We're having a barn dance and they're £500 for a five piece live band plus caller, but will be having an MP3 player 'inbetween' before they start and after they finish rather than a disco/DJ.

When you think of the cost of maintaining/purchasing DJ equipment, which has to be factored into every gig, plus buying the lastest music etc, then the cost of travelling to your venue, plus if they're doing say 5 hours of work, it soon adds up and that £250 doesn't seem so unreasonable after all

Yes I understand that however, if my wedding dress didnt cost more than £200 why should I expect to pay more. There are cheaper options out there. I would love to be in a job where I earned £50 an hour wouldnt you?!

The DJs I was looking at were just looking - we know someone who would do it a lot cheaper -BUT the OH half wants a band thats going to cost £400 and realistically hes not paying for anything, I am! and being a student as well as working Is why I am freaking out about prices!

But its not really £50 an hour.. they prob only work for 4 hours a day, and maybe only a few nights a week.. and thats between them all.. so if there are 4.. paying £400 for 4 hours is not much!! over a week.

Yes there are cheaper options of course there are just try and persuade H2B unless he is paying then you cant go for it xx

Any reason why he's not paying for anything?

If he wasn't paying for anything, I'd simply say no to something you can't afford.

Yes, because what he earns is morgatge, water, council tax and then hes left with £50 at the end of everything...

    Either

create an account and ask them for a number... or find a band that has an easier way of contacting them

Ultimately, they will need to work for you and you will need to pay them, and speak to them... so they will need to offer you a phone number (and more)

True - however, whatever the price, you want to know you can trust the to turn up, communicate with you etc, etc..

I'd have a look around and see if i could find a cheaper band that plays the same type of music as the band youre looking at, but are still good. This could be a good compromise.

Also, don't tell them its for a wedding if you can help it because they just increase their prices.

    Em
