What do I NEED to include in my invites?

bristol1984, 24 January, 2013 at 14:20 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi everyone, I am getting my invites made and so far have the wording sorted which is:

Miss ---- & Mr-----

Request the pleasure of your company

at their marriage at 'venue' & address

on October 18th 2013 at 1pm

followed by a reception.

Firstly does this sound ok? And secondly what other info do I actually need? I was going to put RSVP date & address on there & also a code for the hotel if they wish to book a room. What about diet requirements, wine preference, accomodation address? How do I word this?

Ive looked on google but can't seem to find this information.

I made a wedding website to include all the extra information, it has a section for RSVPs (there's a menu choice), accomodation details, full venue address, a bit about choosing music for the evening and so on.

I didn't want to include a load of extra information in with the invitations so this worked well for us otherwise I'd have done all that on a separate sheet to go in the invitation.

Sounds interesting, how do you set up one of these? I just wrote down all the information that I would need to add to the invites and there is quite a bit.

I used a website called gettingmarried.co.uk, have a look. It's all free and there's a template so you just go through and choose the pages you want and edit the information on them.

It's been great for giving a choice of meals and our RSVP date is 1st Feb and so far we only have a couple of outstanding RSVPs.

I've just put what you have but our venue address do include street / postcode details.

Then RSVP by XX date with e-mail address / home address so they can RSVP to one or the other.

We are then putting in an insert that covers - no children, menu choices (people can pick) and our gift list.

I'd hope that if someone had dietary requirements they would let you know once RSVP'ing - but you never know!

I'd just include a slip with your 'extra' info personally.

    Hi,

I would agree and did the same thing and did a website. i also made a simple rsvp card. we arent having children either at our wedding so on the rsvp card i wrote something on the lines of:

how many seats are booked for your party (and put the number)

    Number of guest greatfuly accepting

    Number of guest unfortunately declining

    Dietary requirements

i just thought because i know how bad i am at sending cards that by including a rsvp , the guests dont have to do much. just pop a stamp on and away you go

That was basically what we had in the invite itself. Then, we added a separate small card to the envelope with RSVP address and request for dietary requirements. Finally, we added a separate sheet with directions (our venue is in the middle of nowhere!) and some local accommodation options (as nearly all the guests are from out of town).
