I bought a little radio thingumy that I plug into the ipod and put at the same frequency as my radio - then it plays through the radio.

I got Mr L. a random one and I have the official ipod gadget. The ipod one is rrrrrubbsh!

I've got a Belkin TuneBase FM

which sounds similar to what Luthien uses.

    Amazon sell them http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-TuneBase-FM-Transmitter-iPod/dp/B000JPNEZ4/ref=pd_sbs_ce?ie=UTF8&qid=1218219276&sr=8-2

They also do a slightly cheaper one here

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-TuneFM-iPod-Digital-transmitter/dp/B000IZO7F6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1218219276&sr=8-2

But I dont know if it's any good.

Excuse the huge link (don't know how to do the fancy short ones), but I have one of these

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Car-Trip-iPod-Nano-Transmitter/dp/B0017MC48G/ref=sr_1_46?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1218219398&sr=8-46

It's fantastic, so much so that I bought another for OH's car. I've tried several and found this one to be the best.

    I also have...

a griffin road trip which is ok but the signal's a bit fuzzy and it doesn't fit my car properly,

and one of those little battery operated ones that plug into the headphones socket, but it gets really bad interference and the signal is really weak no matter how close to the radio I move it.

If you have a tape player in your car you can just get one of those tapes with a wire which you plug into the ipod (they're usually around 5 quid in petrol stations)

Thanks all - will have a squiz at those links

i dont need the radio bit - there is a good stereo in the car but only has one cd slot so it is a pain to be switching cds and thought this might be a better option - so doesnt matter if the radio bit is fuzzy

its really just for while we are on our holibobs as there is so much driving i neeeeed lots of different music

No, no - it's not a radio! It's a transmitter it transmits what you have on your ipod onto the car stereo, via the radio.

I've got this one, it is good but doesn't automatically tune into the radio frequencies. There is a new one that does tune in automatically, which is important because it saves you having to fiddle with it whenever a local radio station interferes with the signal as you're driving.

Also I have the iTouch and you can't change frequency with this one using the iTouch like you can on my old video iPod.

I have this one and just can't get it to work in my car. My stereo just carries on roaming for a station and won't hold on one frequency.

I've just got an aux cable. It plugs in to the headphone socket on the iPod and then plugs into the Aux bit on the car stereo.
