What do I write on parents invites?

cford09, 2 May, 2012 at 19:31 Posted on Planning 0 8

I'm going to start writing my invites but am unsure what to write on the ones to our parents? Do we write 'Mum and Dad' or their actual names?

And what about grandparents? It would feel strange to write 'to Pat and Keith'! Ooo and aunties and uncles too.

What have you done?

Thanks!

I wrote first names on ours as they were from both of us (neither of our parents are paying, we are doing it ourselves). My mum wanted one to keep, but OHs mum kicked off ?

We are doing it ourselves too so it won't say: 'Mr and Mrs Bride's Mum cordially invite Mr and Mrs Brides Mum to the wedding of Bride and Groom!'

I'd also like them to have an invite as a keepsake as I've made them myself :-)

I wrote Mum and Dad, Grandma and Grandad, Auntie Jayne etc and then all our other guests I just wrote first names, no surnames!

We are paying our own way so did send them. I wrote 'mum & her husband's name' and OH wanted first names / mum and dad on his so a mixture! Do what feels comfortable!

Luckily, my parents are contributing a lot into the wedding, and are 'hosting' the wedding so the invitations are worded from them. However I sent a blank one up to mum to have as a keepsake. Dont think I would have heard the end of it otherwise! For everyone else we just put the full name, this was more to control who could invite a plus one etc. to families though I just wrote to 'The Smith Family' etc. I think there is no right or wrong way, but do whatever you feel comfortable with!

Same as Flowmojo - we'll be putting "Mum & Dad B" and "Mum & Dad H". We address Christmas cards to them like this, so the invitations will be the same.
