What do you do on days like this?

HeidiHole, 28 March, 2009 at 15:54 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 38

I'm bored rigid. Mr Hole has popped out to watch the footie, the baybeh is sleeping and my son is out with his friends. We managed to pop out to the shops just before lunch when the rain held off a bit, but since then it's just been sitting around.

Everything has been cleaned, tidied, etc. Wizzy and I watched The Lion King, yet I'm still bored.

Tell me what you do on shitty days like today?

<don't tell me only boring people get bored, it's the biggest load of old bollox I ever did hear>

I've decided to take on the mammoth task of cleaning the oven - it hasn't been done in longer than I'd like to admit. Am starting to think it would be easier to buy a new one ?

    (the fun never stops here)

Cleaning the oven? Don't even bring that subject up. Actually hole, did you find a microwave? Ours blew up yesterday.

I'm hitching from my bed with a cold. Highlights of the day so far have been watching Corrie on ITVPlayer and the individual cupcake H bought from Waitrose for me. Other than that, it's all Sudafed, orange squash and snoozing ....

These kind of days just make me even more restless. I have been to the gym, done washing/hoovered and had lunch. H has gone to karate. I am sitting here waiting for my shopping to be delivered. Tried to read a book-can't focus. Thinking about what we are going to eat/watch tonight-no inspiration!

Last Saturday it was all so different. Sun was shining, I was wearing a nice dress, had a lovely lunch at the Rivington with my sons, got a bit squiffy on cocktails and went and saw Paul Weller at the 02 with H.

    Gah!

Funny you say that, we bought one today. I saw a lovely one in Comet a couple of weeks ago but it was 100 jibs, Mr Hole wouldn't buy it because he said you can get them much cheaper blah blah blah. We popped in there again today and it had been reducecd to 49.99 so we snapped it up! How glad am I that I didn't throw a tantrum and make him buy it, I'd never have heard the end of it ?

Are you looking to move? Come to Issix ?

    Boo to oven cleaning!

Hope you feel better soon, CBH xx

I woke up with a monster migraine so have not long got up and retired to the sofa with duvet and the dog. Mr P has been to shop and bought the papers, so I have tea and papers to trawl through.

Plus I am dipping in and out of hitched whilst watching 'The Duchess' on DVD, I missed the end of it when I watched it on the plane home from New York back in December.

I am actually quite content as I have a busy day tomorrow!

It is, but it's brushed steel so no horrible finger marks every time you use it, it looks much smarter in the flesh than it does in that picture. It's quite small but we only use it for heating up meals/beans etc. It's a Breville.

Loof, are you going to be able to keep Mr Ls bday surprise a secret ?

No! I told him already - I lasted all of ten minutes. It's not as bad as last year though, when I sent a text out invoting peeps to a surprise party for him and sent the message straight to him.

We walked to town aand bought a birthday card, had loads of yummy dim sum. On the walk hom we found an arts festival thing.

Now we are watching the recorded F1, might go to the pub for the second half of the football, but its NI/Poland and things might be a bit rough.

I thought you were going to say "go out and do something less boring instead", Mrs Jess ? I might watch Piers Morgan on catch up then see if I can get his new book, I loved his last two.

Loof, I remember you doing that, too funny ?

Sun, I didn't see your post, how did she cut her hair ?

Flowery, it is your duty as a hitcher to send me chocklit, it's in the Conditions of Use.

Now do you see why it's in the Conditions of Use? It's to save you all from yourselves, I'm good like that.

Shall I buy PMs new book or wait for the paperback?

She cut a chunk out from near the top round the back, she has a one sided mullet and I could cry when I look at it - it's not noticeable as long as she has pigtails or a pony, there's no way i'm having the rest off to match up with it, i'd be a mess.

No problemo, it'll be in the post in the week!

I want to grill something in my new microwave to see if the grill is any good, I've never used the grill in a microwave before because I've always dismissed it as a nonsense.

Christ, my life is SO dull.

I went to town, shopping. Small drama en route when I had a flat tyre, I can change a tyre myself but don't have the strength to undo the bolts. Went through my list of male friends until I found one who was available to come and rescue me.

Have just got back, am now going to chill out for a bit!

I spent 4 hours in town and bought some stationery in the sale in Smiths, a silk dress reduced from £55 to £15 and a blouse the same for work, some bits for my Mum's 60th on Tuesday, knee high socks for a hen do and then slept for an hour when I finally got in. We're meant to be going to a friend's tonight but I was too tired to even wash my hair when I got in the bath so decided not to go. I feel mean dropping out at the last minute but they have lots of other people going and it's an hour's drive away.

Tonight I am going to put all the bits I've ripped out of Ideal Home into a folder, using dividers for each room, for when we move here ? Oh and I might start the two essays I've got to hand in in the next week or so. You can do them for me if you get really bored!

But was it perfectly toasted and did it have little griddle line things on it?

I have faffed on the internet for most of the day and have just got back from Tesco. I now can't be bothered to do anything apart from faff until I can order a Dominos and try to decide which DVD to watch. It has been really sunny, heavy rain, sun, rain [repeat] here today too

CBH - hope you get rid of your cold soon

Got up early and have been decorating like a demon (see painting booboo post). Just finished for today. I was trying to get away with not having to bother with a set of proper stepladders, just stand on a chair instead, but it became apparent quite early on that this would culminate in a hospital visit ?. So I also had to fight the evil crowds at Homebase to get the bloody stepladders (putting paid to my 'great plan' of getting everything I needed there last night when it was quiet), whilst panicking about losing my parking spot before I got back.

And now I'm waiting until it gets dark so I can see how effective my new solar garden lights are. Rock and roll.
