What do you get from your work at Christmas?

Knees, 17 November, 2011 at 16:07 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 50

Following on from the Christmas Do thread, what do you get at Christmas?

Does your Christmas party get paid for?

Is it just food, just drinks or both?

Do you get a Christmas bonus?

Our food gets paid for and some bottles of wine on the tables. The senior partners will usually buy a couple of rounds.

We sometimes get a bonus, depending on how December's takings have been. I think last year it was £20, the year before it was £50.

Ive left now but in the 7 or 8 years I was there (H is still there) we got a box of foxes biscuits to share between 32 staff. Oh and half an hour away from our desks to go the loos and get ready for our night out, which we organised and paid for ourselves.

Nope. Our professor buys us all a bottle of red, a bottle of white and some kind of novelty chocolate item. So that's alright then.

My work pays for the taxi in, dinner & drinks all night for you and your partner, and the taxi home. Not too shabby. Also, on the last day of term we all have Christmas pudding or mince pies.

Benefits wise my work rocks generally, we have an office dog, free ice cream and a ping pong table.

We don't get a Cristmas bonus, but we do have a bonus scheme that runs throughout the year, so I can't complain too much.

My boss gets me a gift personally but from the company I get £15 High St Vouchers, a bottle of wine and we have a team do which is an overnight stay at the Hyatt in Birmingham including a meal at a City Centre restaurant, and as much drink as I can feasibly manage.

We also have a January "do" where we hire a room in the ICC, have a big awards night with a celebrity turn (last year was Twist n Pulse & Kevin Bridges), wine reception, a 3 course dinner, a "disco" and again, as much drink as I can feasibly manage. They really look after us here Smiley smile

We get a bottle of wine from the directors and a £10 m&s voucher from the skippers of the hotel's boat.

We usually have a party on January 2nd with buffet and a couple of drinks paid for, but this hasn't been mentioned yet so not sure if it's going ahead.

Does your Christmas party get paid for? We get £15 per head contribution from the company which is nice but the team I work with have small wages and they don't like to add anything else so this doesn't go far, I would be happy to put in £20-30 and something decent but its still nice

Also usually a bottle of "bubbly" usually Cava or similar

Is it just food, just drinks or both? as above

Do you get a Christmas bonus? no, but I get 4 Qtrly bonus's and one of these is paid out at end of November so it's my xmas bonus really! We also get paid on the last Thurs of the month but Dec we get paid about the 22nd Dec which is great but makes January EVEN LONGER!

OH gets chuff all but he gets bonus's through the year

I've never had a bonus ever! our pay is frozen too and they just cancelled the christmas party (which we pay for) due to lack of interest. Moral is pretty low at the moment, particularly in some departments as we have had two years of redundancies, our pay frozen and so on, so I suspect that is why people didn't want to go to the christmas do. Hopefully we'll get a few nibbles on the last day before we break up for christmas but I suspect only because our dept will sort it and all bring something in - we're pretty good at finding a reason for bringing in party food!

Last Christmas we moved buildings so spent the week moving heavy boxes and packing and unpacking.

We don't get anything, the managers of each department buy their staff things, though I think some buy nothing. We usually get a box of Roses between about 15 of us. OH is a manager at the same place and he buys all of his staff booze, I wish I worked for him! Our party and buffet is all paid for too, and I *think* they give us a drink voucher each but I can't remember

My office had a do that we pay for ourselves - just a meal out somewhere.

The company's busiest time is winter (the factory I work at make New Covent Garden Soup - winter is the peak season) so they dont do a christmas do as it is just not feastible to close the factory so that everyone can take part. Instead, we have a summer fun day - all staff and family are allowed (Although this year we had to limit it to 7 kids! gulp! lol) There is a bouncy castle, face painting, games, disco, a BBQ/Buffet and each staff member gets a voucher which allows them 5 free drinks. Not bad, considering at the moment we have over 300 employees - last year cost a fortune!
