What do you reckon to these shoes?

FMG, 26 November, 2012 at 09:20 Posted on Planning 0 20

I found these on Etsy. I have a lace Justin Alexander dress and I really wanted blue shoes. I stumbled accross these and I think I am in love. A bit nervous ordering them though as I have nere done it through Etsy before and they're from America. What do you reckon, should I take the plunge?

I like them but without seeing your dress, impossible to judge the match. I would say that I reckon these would be easy to knock up yourself. The base shoes should be easy to buy (buy some white bridal ones and have them dyed). The lace appliqués can be bought at Hobbycraft etc. Might save a few pennies!

I really like them. I can't wear 'open' shoes like that unfortunately - my feet just won't stay in them.

Bear in mind custom charges when ordering from the US.

This is my dress. I wanted shoes that were a bit different to the norm and something I would wear again. I have thought about getting some blue shoes and adding shoe clips to them but then came accross these and they were everything I had imagined. Hadn't crossed my mind about custom charges - what does this normally work out as?

Thanks for that Hannah. It sounds rather complicated and a bit off putting! I'm going to London next week to have a good look for something there. I guess if I don't see anything that comes close these I will have to go for it!

    Hi

Regarding custom duty; I ordered x 3 bridal belts from Light in the Box and have ended up paying over £10 duties when the items were only worth £27, a bit miffed to say the least!

    They are super pretty!

Like footlong says you could have a go yourself but I would take the easy option personally ?

Love these, they are AMAZING.... I reckon the previous poster has the right idea in that you could probably make them! They are really unique.

Thanks for your help ladies! I'm going to have a little look in hobbeycraft and see if I can make some which will look as good but I am making quite a lot for my wedding so I don't mind splashing out a bit on my shoes as they're the one thing I hope to wear again!!! I like the idea of Ebay seaches and I am going to set some up to see if anything comes up in this country. The whole idea of 'import tax' etc is a little daunting especially if you don't really know how much it's going to be until it arrives!!! Thanks so much for your tips on this! Any other suggestions gratefully received!

The shop where you ordered your dress should be able to order in extra lace embellishments if you want your shoes to match your dress, I did this to make a lace bolero.

Etsy is a really good site with trusted sellers. I've ordered from American sellers plenty of times. Go on, treat yourself x

Oh wow, love these - they will look stunning with your dress!

I'd give making them a go! Buy the lace bits and the shoes and see how the placement would work on the shoe before you go ahead and get them dyed, and regret it! Gorgeous though, expect a flash if you do make them!
