£50 a head sounds OKish. Does that include all fees for ceremony room hire/cake stand/linens/etc? Although two bottles of wine per table sounds a little on the low side.

If that's Rudding Park, my friend had a very similar deal and had no complaints.

If not, it's still a good deal!

For the drinks, I got greeting drinks (Pimms and bottles of beer), 2 Glasses of wine per person and an English Sparking Wine for the toast for £12.50 per head. I don't think 2 bottles of wine per tabkle is a bit on the low side, it all depends on what you can afford, although if there is negotiation to be had you could try and haggle. I have 200 adults!!!! 3 course meal £10,000 and buffet. This is at the University of Nottingham

If there are twelve people around it, it's 1 x 125 ml each.

Thank you for your feed back Smiley smile Yes this if for rudding park!

We are flexible on budget to have the perfect day as we both have steady incomes however we perosnally

would prefer to spend no more than 10k on the day and save our money to buy a bigger house however we are

open to spending more for the right venue

Agree with footlong that if you can afford it, I'd look to provide a bit more wine on the tables. Just because I know the bar is quite expensive at Rudding so I'm sure your guests would appreciate it.

Half a bottle per person tends to be the norm but it's obviously whatever you can afford Smiley smile

From personal experience you always end up with more wine anyway as not everyone drinks...Smiley smile

I always seemed to be positioned at the first point of call for the waiters/waitresses and always end up with lots of wine Smiley smile Right at the back of the room lol

It sounds like a good deal apart form the wine situation.

Weddings I have been to have given each guest half a bottle each plus fizz for toast and post-ceremony. I might have missed it but how many guests are there per table? My tables have 10 guests on each so 2 bottles wouldn't go far.

I'd ask the cost of their wine and other drinks if you're thinking of topping up the wine for your guests.

Hmm, I'm not so sure given it is a bbq/buffet and therefore not a 3 course meal, but I suppose lots of venues charge hire fees etc (or at least loads did when I did the rounds) so if there is none of that, then it is a good deal perhaps, save for the wine.

1/2 bottle per person. Definitely. I may cry if I got to a wedding and there was some kind of wine ratio of 1 bottle to 5 people.

Snap! We've started looking around but I'm not very good at making decisions at the moment - there are so many civil ceremony venues to choose from in North Yorkshire. We have seen one place we both loved but hoping to go and look at a couple more venues at the weekend.

Surely the important thing is celebrating the marriage you have just witnessed not how much free wine you get. I don't think free alcohol should be expected and if you really would be upset with 1 bottle to five people then I think you need to re look at the real meaning of a wedding

    I wasn't being serious.

To the OP, as others suggested, don't be afraid to negotiate. The worst that can happen is they say no. You may be in more of position to do so as getting married on a Thursday, rather than the busier Saturday.

Yes thank you everyone i agree we should probably provide more wine for our guests,

they wouldn't grumble if we didnt but they are all so lovely , we want to make it a special day for them as well as ourselves

and as everyone knows drinks are £££ at most wedding venues!

Definitely going to negotiate the price as it is a thursday and like somebody said its not a 3 course meal!

thanks for everyone input most appreciated!
