What exercise do you do?

Mandie, 2 April, 2008 at 17:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 17

Particularly other than running. I was doing Charlie Brooks' dvd but it was too much for my joints. So, I have bought a twister stepper thing so I'm doing some cardio, then doing the pilates cool down of the dvd. I mainly want to tone up all overm but need to lose some blubber on my belly too. Is this achievable with what I'll be doing, or can you recommend anything else please?

I run at least three times a week (when not injured), I cycle to work and back (7 miles each way) 2 - 3 times a week and I do an upper body and core work out about once a week (weights, crunches etc...).

I used to go to the gym 3 times a week to do a full workout, or swimming etc. I stopped going in Jan as I couldnt afford it anymore, and now do dvds at home. I swear by Davina Mccalls power of 3, and high energy 5. Very varied, covering all the body parts (legs, abs, upper body) with interval training (one minute of jumping about to get the heart rate up). They are quite good fun (as long as you don't mind Davina) and work really well, I actually enjoy doing these more than I did going to the gym.

I used to do step and combat around 4 times a week, plus crunches and press ups etc. at home 2 or 3 times a week.

I now only run 4 times a week. I am much fitter but a lot flabbier!

I walk a lot - 6 or 7 miles on an average day, between walking the dogs twice or three times a day and running round in work. Also I try to go running three times a week.

Nothing at all. I walk. I have been looking at the DVDs but with so many out there I don't know which one to get.

I run twice a week, do body attack twice a week, do a gym session (cardio, weights & core) once a week and do either circuits or combat once a week. I still have a wobbly belly though☹️!]

I run 2-3 times per week and do free weights and cardio work at other times at the gym or with my trainer in the garage!(curcuit class, boxing, skipping etc)

I do a power plate class 3 times a week, belly dancing once a week and aquaflex once a week. Not hard core exercise like running but I suppose it is something. ?

Running 3 times a week, dog walk twice a week (usually about an hour, relatively strenuous walking with ball throwing), line dancing [:I] once a week.

Thank you all. H kicked me off the pc last night so couldn't reply then. I think I'll continue with what I'm doing and see how I go. There are a few classes nearby (pilates and body pump) so I might try them out too.

I walk quite a bit and I also go swimming four or five nights a week, depending on what else I have got on during the week.

Bodypump 3x week, plus either an aerobics type class or an abs and butts type class.

Bizarrely enough, I'm really enjoying my exercise at the moment - long may it last! We have a gym on site at work which helps.

Seraphina - where do you work?
Those classes sound very similar to what's available in my work gym here in canary wharf - I've just joined and am going to go to body pump and a legs, bums & tums (LBT) class.

i was thinking of getting one of these DVDs. Which do you think is better?
Also, i live in a 2nd floor flat - is there a lot of jumping and hopping around that would annoy my downstairs neighbours? I have a yoga mat that might take some of the impact i suppose?
